TL;DR

Alliance: Ashenvale, Wetlands, then Duskwood, with Stonetalon, Redridge, or Hillsbrad as branches. Horde: Ashenvale, Hillsbrad, then Thousand Needles, with Stonetalon as a bridge.

For the 20s, follow your faction’s zone bands, then choose a nearby alternative when your current quests no longer fit. ForeverDB gives approximate zone levels and route options, not a measured experience-per-hour route. It says its ranges come from Classic quest levels and that Forever may have moved some things, so treat the bands as a guide.

BandZone and hubHow to use it
Around 20Ashenvale — AstranaarNight Elves can continue from Darkshore; humans, dwarves, and gnomes may still be finishing Westfall or Loch Modan.
Around 21Wetlands — Menethil HarborA useful next band after Ashenvale.
Around 24Duskwood — DarkshireThe main mid-20s option; choose among nearby alternatives below.
To about 25Redridge Mountains — LakeshireA shorter branch when that band fits your character.
From about 24, beyond 30Hillsbrad Foothills — SouthshoreChoose this when you want a zone that continues past the bracket.
Through about 28Stonetalon Mountains — Stonetalon PeakA longer bridge for filling levels before the next zone band.

This is a suggested flow, not a required sequence of every quest. The useful distinction is between the main band and the alternate stop: continue through Ashenvale and Wetlands toward Duskwood, then use Redridge, Hillsbrad, or Stonetalon according to the band and quests you still have. ForeverDB places Southshore and Darkshire near level 24, while Lakeshire ends around 25 and Stonetalon Peak carries farther into the 20s.

Horde Route

BandZone and hubHow to use it
20sAshenvale — Splintertree Post or Zoram’gar OutpostThe main route’s first 20s stop.
About 24Hillsbrad Foothills — Tarren MillThe next main band in the published order.
About 28Thousand Needles — Freewind PostMove here for the late-20s band.
About 18–28Stonetalon Mountains — Sun Rock RetreatA bridge if you are still using its lower band.

Orcs, Trolls, and Tauren may be finishing the Barrens near level 20; Undead characters may still be finishing Silverpine before the Barrens. Treat that as a starting point, then use Ashenvale, Hillsbrad, and Thousand Needles as the main sequence. Stonetalon begins earlier and overlaps the 20s, so it can bridge a gap rather than replace the whole route.

Picking the Next Stop

Use the level ranges as decision points, not exact quest handoffs. If your current zone still has quests in its useful band, finish the work that fits; when you want a change, pick one of the sourced branches above. This page covers where the zone options sit. It does not give quest-by-quest transitions, travel coordinates, or a promise that every character will reach each hub at the same level.

The ForeverWisp coverage pages describe released Alliance and Horde in-game beta guides spanning levels 20–30, reviewed September 15, with testing and class coverage still in progress. Their public pages establish that those guides exist, but do not show their complete step order. The zone itinerary above therefore follows ForeverDB’s published recommendations rather than presenting the hidden addon route as a measured run.

For the opening Alliance island segment, use the Quest Route tool to mark completed, available, or blocked steps and find your next action. For island background, see the Zephras Isle guide.

What the Route Evidence Can Answer

These sources identify the faction route and show where the alternatives fit. They do not establish why leveling feels slow, and they provide no tested experience-per-hour figure. This guide keeps the useful decision—the next zone and hub—in view without turning a zone recommendation into a speed claim.
