Fishing is a secondary profession in Wowhead's Forever guide, where skill rises through catches.

The beta client data (build 1.60.1.70009) has 14 live Fishing entries: 9 new and 5 unchanged. No Classic row changed or disappeared. The 9 new entries are three camp recipes, four rank spells, Bait and Tackle, and Find Fish. Find Fish has a tooltip that says nearby fishing nodes appear on the minimap.

Trainers and ranks

Wowhead's Forever guide reports that trainers teach Apprentice and Journeyman Fishing. It lists city trainers and two new neutral trainers on Zephras Isle. City options include Arnold Leland in Stormwind City and Grimnur Stonebrand in Ironforge for Alliance, plus Lumak in Orgrimmar and Armand Cromwell in Undercity for Horde.

The Forever guide gives these rank bands: Apprentice 1-75, Journeyman 75-150, Expert 150-225, and Artisan 225-300. The Forever database spell page says Journeyman requires Fishing 50, while the guide places it at 75. The beta client lists Expert Fishing - The Bass and You with a required skill of 125.

The Forever guide says Old Man Heming in Booty Bay sells the book and places Expert in the 150-225 band. The guide places Nat Pagle's Artisan quest in Dustwallow Marsh and says it needs Fishing 225 and character level 35. It does not give a Forever character-level gate for ordinary trainer ranks or a price for the Expert book.

The client evidence points to a 300 cap: the Artisan band ends at 300 and the Fishing Hut blueprint needs skill 300. The client files omit the max-skill table, so 300 remains an inference.

Leveling Fishing 1-300

Fishing gains skill through catches, not crafts. Equip a Fishing Pole, cast while facing water, then right-click the bobber when it splashes. Wowhead's Forever guide says skill progress depends on how many fish you catch, not the difficulty of the area, so fish the closest water with a 100% catch rate.

The only purchases are a Fishing Pole and, below 25, a Shiny Bauble.

The Forever guide recommends Shiny Bauble below Fishing 25. The beta client item list separately names an item called "Secret" Bait; its spell is Shiny Bauble and grants +25 Fishing for 10 minutes. The item name and spell name differ in those records. In starter zones, the guide's zone table gives a 100% catch rate at Fishing 25.

The Forever guide's 225-300 text says "coming soon," so the last row comes from its zone table, which lists Azshara, Felwood, Feralas, The Hinterlands, Moonglade, Tanaris, Un'Goro Crater and others as fishable from 205 with a 100% catch rate at 300. Each object requires a Campfire nearby. All camping features share a 1-hour cooldown. The Fishing Rack and Fishing Hut add the uncommon or rare fishing benefit for 1 hour, plus Fishing Skill lures and the Fish Bowl effect. Seasonal Fish Steaks are new in Forever and appear in the Fishing Hut recipe.

Pairing and gold

Fishing is a secondary profession, so it can sit alongside two primary professions. Cooking is a practical partner: Wowhead's Forever guide says fish feed many Cooking recipes for useful stat foods, and that most cooked foods grant 5% additional experience from kills. That supports a Cooking pairing, but the source does not establish a Fishing gold yield.

Classic baseline only: Wowhead's Classic guide describes raw fish as Auction House goods. That does not provide a Forever price or demand estimate. If you fish while leveling, fit casts into route stops; the RestedXP guide is another route option. Blizzard's planned Luremaster perk grants a chance to catch extra fish.
