This hub holds the class roster and the evidence behind each Forever pairing. The full guide index covers every other page on the site, and the homepage news feed has the newest reports. If you haven't decided what to play, the start-here path for new players walks you through access, class, and race in that order, and Forever beside Classic, Retail, and Turtle WoW sets the product boundaries. For talent detail, use the shared talent calculator index. The tools page lists the site's other planners.

Choosing a Class as a Beginner

Narrow the nine classes by role below, then check the race guide for the official race-class matrix, or filter it by class and faction in the race and class combos tool, before you choose a faction. Each class page carries its full talent calculator, and the older /talents/<class> ideas resolve to those canonical pages instead of duplicating them.

Kargoz walks through all nine classes with his own ratings for leveling, PvE and PvP, September 26, 2026.

Choose the job you want first, then check race access. In the Classic baseline, Warrior, Paladin, and Druid can tank; Paladin, Priest, Shaman, and Druid can heal; and all nine classes can deal DPS.

Race access comes next. The scene pairs a Tauren with a Gnome and a Dwarf; Blizzard's tables list Tauren as Horde and Gnome and Dwarf as Alliance. This isn't a WoW Forever best-class ranking, because complete talent trees and release tuning are still open for most classes. Pick a class above to see its evidence, or use the races guide for race-first decisions. The class and profession revamp report covers the announcement these pages follow.

Meta Expectations and Raid Composition

In community analysis, Khalma expects the strongest classes to shift by phase and raid, not to follow a fixed launch ranking. Khalma sees revised kits and retail-inspired spells as making Forever play like a completely different game from Classic. He doubts the 20 to 25 warrior stacking common in original Classic will persist, pointing to Blizzard's stated goal that every class and specialization should be viable in raids. A developer in the Deep Dive stream said the goal was to make sure "every single one of our 27 talent trees is a viable option to bring to your dungeon or raid group."Blizzard: Deep Dive stream, 1:03:40, checked Sep 28, 2026. The Deep Dive panel recap makes key raid buffs baseline, but exact release tuning and raid balance are unverified.

Confirmed, Planned, and Unknown

Plan for combat that aims at deliberate creature kills, crowd control in dungeons and key raid buffs made baseline, while final talent trees and release tuning are open. Confirmed beyond the race pairings in the class list: combat pacing aims at deliberate 10 to 15 second creature kills; dungeons require tactical crowd control (Polymorph, Banish, Fear, Root) and threat management; spell, melee, and ranged hit and critical strike chances are unified across roles; weapon skill gives less rating per item; bonus healing includes one-third bonus damage; talent trees keep 7 rows with milestone choices at 11, 16, 21, and 31 points; and key raid buffs (Blessing of Kings, Divine Spirit, Improved Mark of the Wild) become baseline. Blizzard's recap says each class "should remain distinct, with its own strengths and weaknesses rather than feeling homogenized."Blizzard: World of Warcraft: Forever Deep Dive Panel Recap, checked Sep 13, 2026.

Unverified: Blizzard's first roadmap image, since deleted, listed two unnamed class and race combinations for Spring 2027. The current roadmap graphic lists a new legendary questline in that slot instead, and Blizzard hasn't explained the change.

Beta tuning: Blizzard's October 15 EDT Beta development note, post 6, was published October 16 UTC and edited October 16. It lists updates under Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior, plus racial-ability updates. The note is an announcement; it does not verify which build is running on a realm. The class changes guide covers the September 24 and October 1 notes and was marked checked October 2; read Blizzard's October 15 notes for the newer details.Source: Blizzard Beta Development Notes, topic 2360696 post 6, published 2026-10-16T00:15:23.135Z, edited 2026-10-16T20:50:17.693Z; retrieved 2026-10-18T07:49:41.413Z.

Still unknown: Blizzard hasn't published final talent trees or spell kits (the counts above come from a read of the beta client), and release balance tuning is open.
