Pet Family Reference
Search 17 family records and their abilities from the current beta client. Family membership describes ability associations; it does not establish that every beast in that family is tameable.
1 beast, 17 family records and 20 abilities.
No matching records. Try a different family or search, or clear the filters.
Verified Tameable Beast Records
1 named beast currently has an explicit tameable label in Wowhead's Forever database. Map points are recorded sightings, not a guarantee that a beast is spawned. The image is a Bear family icon.
The listed levels are pet ability requirements, not beast spawn levels or trainer unlocks. Spell links open the individual rank. The beta currently caps characters at level 30; higher rank records are omitted.

Blizzard's beta notes confirm that Tame Beast cannot target a beast above the Hunter's level. The client lists its requirement at level 10. A level requirement alone does not verify the quest or trainer that teaches it.
Keep the tame channel uninterrupted and feed your new pet. The client includes happiness and loyalty mechanics; Blizzard fixed happiness gains stopping at maximum loyalty in the September 24 notes.
Lets you see through your pet's eyes and control its actions.
Care spell requirements match the Classic Era 1.15.9.69722 baseline. This comparison covers spell identity and required levels, not trainer inventories or every numerical effect.
Forever Beta Changes
Furious Howl's attack power bonus was reduced by 40% in the September 24 notes.
Sonic Blast was made properly available to bats.
The October 1 notes restore Aggressive Mode to the pet tab of the spellbook.
Those notes also fix tameable beasts carrying ability ranks above their level, which could make them forget the ability.
These are dated Blizzard corrections. The family and rank tables are a separate read of beta build 1.60.1.70205.
These 12 talents come from the current Beast Mastery trait tree. Maximum ranks are shown for reference. For point allocation and the rest of the tree, use the Beast Mastery guide or Hunter talent calculator.
Download the sourced pet records: CreatureFamily and SkillLineAbility associations, SpellLevels requirements, spell effects and Beast Mastery trait nodes from 1.60.1.70205, checked October 3, 2026. Named beasts have their own Wowhead Forever source records; that database identifies version 1.60.1 without an exact current numeric client build.
Classic labels compare 1.15.9.69722 family identities and spell associations. An ability may have a Classic association for only some of its listed families; the label does not assert unchanged damage, effects or access. The current Bird of Prey family was named Owl in that baseline.
The named beast list is a verified subset. This reference has no complete beast availability list or verified trainer inventories. It covers the selected family mechanics, not every client family or every passive ability. Check beast eligibility and ability learning in the current game.
Choosing a Pet Family
Start with the ability you want, then compare the families associated with it. For example, the current client associates Web with spiders, Swipe with bears and Sonic Blast with bats. Search for an ability or select a family to narrow both tables.
These family records are a mechanics reference. They do not identify a particular beast to tame or guarantee an individual creature's eligibility. The reference omits beasts whose Forever tameability has not been verified.
Training and Taming Checks
Spell requirements tell you when a spell can be used. They do not identify which Hunter quest or pet trainer teaches it. This page has no verified current trainer inventory or step-by-step taming quest route.
Before taming, check the target's level against your own and inspect its eligibility in the current game. After taming, check its learned abilities and ranks in the pet spellbook. Blizzard's October 1 beta fix addresses beasts that carried ranks above their level.
For the rest of the class, read the Hunter guide. For the journey to the level cap, use the leveling guide. Plan your pet talent points with the talent calculator, selecting Hunter in its class picker.
