How the numbers are counted

Every figure on this page is computed when the site builds, from the site's own data files, and the site's tests recount each one from its source. Where a figure comes from the game files rather than from Blizzard, it says so and carries the Reported icon.

Talents

The talent figures come from the community WoW Forever Talents dataset, which reads the beta client (build 1.60.1.70009) and compares each talent with Classic Era (build 1.15.9.69722). Blizzard's dated corrections from the September 24 beta notes are applied first.

A talent counts as changed when its name, its number of ranks or the text of any rank differs from Classic Era. That includes small wording edits, so changed does not always mean redesigned. The 7 talents whose only difference is capital letters count as unchanged, as they do on every class page. The class pages and the talent calculator call changed talents Reworked.

The dataset lists the trees Forever ships, not the Classic talents it dropped, so this page does not count removed talents. A capstone is the last talent in a tree, one per tree, 27 in all.

Races and classes

Blizzard's September 22 tables give Forever's matrix: 52 race and class pairings, counting Skyborne once for each class either faction can play. The beta client's own table lists 56 rows, because the Alliance and Horde Skyborne have separate race IDs.

The Classic Era figure, 40, is read from the Era client's race and class table (build 1.15.9.69722). Every Classic pairing is still in Forever. The race and class combos tool has the full matrix with Blizzard's faction split.

Dungeons

The level brackets are the ones Blizzard posted on September 15, after it corrected Krol'dok Stronghold to 40 to 45. Blizzard's list gives each of the nine a lower and an upper level. The dungeons guide covers each one, and the raid sizes come from Blizzard's roadmap card.

Crafting recipes

The recipe counts compare the beta client's profession tables with Classic Era's, for 12 professions. A recipe here is a profession row that makes an item or applies an enchant, so the new rank spells and utility spells such as Find Fish are left out. The profession guides count every new row, rank spells included, so their totals run a few higher.

Changed means the recipe's reagents, skill levels, product or tools differ from Classic Era. Gone means a Classic recipe the beta files retire or no longer list. A recipe in the files may not have a trainer, drop or vendor yet, so the count is what the beta holds, not what a player can learn today.

Blizzard's own figure is "over 600 new recipes across professions and level ranges", from its BlizzCon Deep Dive recap. It is a separate count from the client's, made before the beta opened, and the recap does not say what it includes. The professions guide has the per-profession detail.

Dates

Blizzard gives its dates in Pacific time. Days between two dates count from one to the other, so the reveal on September 12 and the launch on November 4 are 53 days apart. A span such as the beta counts its first and last day. Blizzard's text ends the beta on October 21, its last full day of testing, while the roadmap image shows October 22; the page keeps both. The roadmap tracker has every window.

What is not here

No player counts, queue sizes or class popularity: nothing on record supports them. Nothing comes from the October 1 beta build yet: the talent and recipe counts have not been recounted against it. When they are, any change is logged under Revisions with its date.

After the numbers

If the dungeon brackets are what you are planning around, the leveling guide maps the zones between them. Players who want a route to follow can compare the two addons in Zygor vs RestedXP, or start with the RestedXP guide for what its Forever routes cover.
