Earlier Reports

Early reports mostly match Blizzard's September 22 list. Warcraft Tavern reported the same four racials and six classes from the demo floor. Wowhead listed three racials and left out Big Game Hunter; Blizzard's list includes it.

What Changed for Dwarves in Forever

Six Classes, and Shaman Is the New One

Blizzard's September 22 race and class table gives Dwarves six classes: Hunter, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, and Warrior.Source: Create the Hero You Want to Be in World of Warcraft: Forever, checked Sep 28, 2026. Druid, Mage, and Warlock stay blank. Only Human has more on the Alliance side, with seven. Gnome, Night Elf, and High Order Skyborne have five each.

Dwarf Shaman is one of six new pairings Blizzard named, alongside Human Hunter and Gnome Priest for the Alliance and Orc Mage, Troll Warlock, and Undead Paladin for the Horde. The Deep Dive recap says more combinations are planned for future updates, without naming them.

The Only Alliance Shaman

An Alliance player who wants a Shaman in Forever has one race to pick: Dwarf. Check the Shaman column of the same table: only Dwarf has an X on the Alliance side. High Order Skyborne gets Mage instead. On the Horde side, Orc, Tauren, Troll, and Windshaper Skyborne can all be Shamans.

Paladin runs the other way. Dwarf and Human are the Alliance Paladin races, and Undead Paladin is the only Horde option. Hunter has the widest overlap: Dwarf, Human, Night Elf, and High Order Skyborne can all be Hunters.

What a Dwarf Reroll Keeps

A Dwarf reroll keeps all five Classic Era classes, and Shaman is the only added option. In Classic Era, Dwarves could be Hunters, Paladins, Priests, Rogues, and Warriors. Blizzard has shown no Dwarf-specific totems or animations for it. The Shaman class guide tracks what the beta client shows.

Dwarf Racials and the October 15 Update

The September 22 Dwarf set, with the October 15 replacement, is Stoneform, Find Treasure, Earth Fury, and Big Game Hunter. Blizzard's October 15 beta notes replace Mace Specialization with Earth Fury, granting 2% increased critical damage and healing, and give Find Treasure a chance to find additional items in most chests. That is critical damage and healing, not critical strike chance; the note gives no mace requirement.Source: Blizzard, October 15 beta notes, post 6 racial section; retained capture retrieved Oct 18, 2026. Official announcement, not a gameplay test.

For comparison, Blizzard's September 22 Create the Hero article printed this earlier Dwarf block. These exact quotations preserve that historical wording:

Blizzard

Stoneform: Immunity to Bleeds, Poisons, and Diseases and reduce Physical damage taken for 8 seconds.

Blizzard

Find Treasure: Track nearby treasure chests.

Blizzard

Mace Specialization (Passive): Maces increase spell and ability critical chance by 1%.

Blizzard

Big Game Hunter (Passive) Damage to Beasts increased by 5%.

Blizzard's own copy leaves out the colon after "(Passive)" on Big Game Hunter. Blizzard's September 24 beta notes changed racials for Gnome, Human, Tauren, and Undead, but not for Dwarves.Source: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes, updated September 24, checked Sep 28, 2026. The October 1 notes change no Dwarf racial either, but they list a known issue: "Dwarf player-characters do not have updated splash sounds in water. This is fixed in a later build."Blizzard: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes, October 1, checked Oct 1, 2026.

Stoneform: Damage Reduction Instead of Armor

Forever's Stoneform keeps the same immunities but swaps the 10% Armor it added in Classic Era for a Physical damage reduction. Blizzard's Deep Dive recap confirms the Forever version keeps the Bleed, Poison, and Disease immunity but "now reduces Physical damage taken instead of increasing Armor." Blizzard says that makes it "useful to more classes."Blizzard: World of Warcraft: Forever Deep Dive Panel Recap, checked Sep 15, 2026.

Blizzard has published no percentage, but the beta client's spell data lists the reduction as 10% of Physical damage for 8 seconds, on a 3-minute cooldown. Reported from build 1.60.1.70009.

Find Treasure Tracks Chests and Can Find Extra Items

A Dwarf Hunter or a Dwarf with Find Minerals no longer has to swap trackers to spot a chest. Find Treasure still tracks nearby treasure chests. The Deep Dive recap adds that it "can now remain active alongside other tracking abilities."Blizzard: World of Warcraft: Forever Deep Dive Panel Recap, checked Sep 15, 2026.

The October 15 notes add a chance to find additional items in most chests. They do not give a percentage or guarantee extra loot.Source: Blizzard, October 15 beta notes, post 6 racial section; retained capture retrieved Oct 18, 2026. Official announcement, not a gameplay test.

Earth Fury and Big Game Hunter

Earth Fury replaces the September Mace Specialization. It grants 2% increased critical damage and healing, rather than 1% critical strike chance with a mace. Big Game Hunter's September 22 description gives a 5% damage bonus against Beasts.Blizzard: Create the Hero You Want to Be in World of Warcraft: Forever, September 22 text; retained capture retrieved Sep 25, 2026. The later note does not attach a weapon condition to Earth Fury.Source: Blizzard, October 15 beta notes, post 6 racial section; retained capture retrieved Oct 18, 2026. Official announcement, not a gameplay test.

Why Blizzard Reworked the Kit

For Dwarves, Stoneform and Find Treasure are the utility, and the two passives carry the offense. The Deep Dive recap gives one rule for every race: two active and two passive racials, "tuned to provide a similar amount of offensive power while preserving signature utility." Blizzard describes Big Game Hunter as "giving Dwarf characters moments where they can shine in the right encounters."Blizzard: World of Warcraft: Forever Deep Dive Panel Recap, checked Sep 15, 2026.

Hall of Thanes: The Dwarf Dungeon

Level Range and Beta Status

Hall of Thanes is the lowest of the nine new dungeons, at levels 13 to 18. Blizzard's What's Next recap places it beneath Ironforge. Community manager Kaivax listed it at levels 13 to 18 in a September 15 forum post.Source: Blizzard forums, Kaivax, checked Sep 28, 2026. That post's table covers the nine dungeons from level 13 up to 60.

The beta launch post listed it in Week 1, next to Ruins of Lordaeron at levels 15 to 20. They were the only two dungeons on that list. Both brackets fit under the beta's opening level cap of 20, which Blizzard raised to 30 with the October 1 beta update.Confirmed, a first-party sourceSource: Blizzard forums: Beta Update Maintenance - October 1, checked Oct 1, 2026. The dungeon guide covers the other seven.

What Is Still Open

Blizzard has published no boss list, loot table, or story summary for Hall of Thanes, and nothing ties it to Ruins of Lordaeron beyond the overlapping level range.

Picking Dwarf for Your Class

Who Gets the Most From Stoneform

The reduction reads best on a Warrior or Paladin holding aggro, since Physical damage covers most melee hits. The immunity half works for every class: any Dwarf can clear a Bleed, Poison, or Disease and ignore new ones for 8 seconds. With the client's 3-minute cooldown, save it for a dangerous pull or a stacking poison rather than using it every fight.

Critical Effects and Beasts

Earth Fury's October 15 description increases critical damage and healing by 2%; it does not require a mace. Pick weapons for your class rather than for the removed Mace Specialization. Per Blizzard's September 22 list, Big Game Hunter is the separate 5% bonus against Beasts, so its target condition still matters.Blizzard: Create the Hero You Want to Be in World of Warcraft: Forever, September 22 text; retained capture retrieved Sep 25, 2026.Source: Blizzard, October 15 beta notes, post 6 racial section; retained capture retrieved Oct 18, 2026. Official announcement, not a gameplay test.

Priests and Other Casters

On a Priest, Stoneform's immunity still works, but its reduction matters less: casting from range, you take less melee damage. Blizzard has published no race recommendation for any class.

Dwarves Before Forever

Blizzard has announced no faction change for Dwarves in Forever, but a Dwarf Hunter no longer gets a gun bonus. In Classic Era, Dwarves were an Alliance race based in Ironforge, described around battle, exploration, and archaeology.Source: Taking Your First Steps in World of Warcraft Classic, checked Sep 28, 2026. The Classic Era kit leaned on Gun Specialization for Hunters and Frost Resistance for everyone, and Forever drops both.

Dun Morogh in the Beta

Traviseen starts a Dwarf Shaman from level 1 in Dun Morogh in the WoW Forever beta, September 18, 2026.

Dun Morogh is live in the beta. Blizzard's September 24 notes list two fixes there: Snow Leopard Prowler now respawns much faster, and a looting bug on the rifle for "Treacherous Cold" is resolved. Neither note says whether Dwarves still start in Coldridge Valley, their Classic Era starting area, so that question stays open below.

In the October 1 build, Shimmer Ridge trolls respawn more evenly, and faster where they were sluggish. Troggs in Loch Modan respawn slightly more slowly for "In Defense of the King's Lands."Blizzard: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes, October 1, checked Oct 1, 2026.

What Is Still Unknown

Blizzard's text leaves these Dwarf details open:

  • Official numbers for Stoneform and the racial cooldowns.
  • Dwarf Shaman totem art, animations, lore, customizations, and voices.
  • A Dun Morogh start change.
  • The Hall of Thanes bosses.

For the official numbers for Stoneform and the racial cooldowns, Blizzard's text gives none; the client lists 10% and 3 minutes.

Blizzard has published no Dwarf leveling routes. RestedXP's Forever leveling routes are on sale and still being built; compare Zygor and RestedXP before paying for either.Source: RestedXP Forever page, checked Sep 28, 2026.

Dwarf FAQ

Can Dwarves be Shamans in WoW Forever? Yes. Dwarf Shaman is one of six new pairings in Blizzard's Deep Dive recap and September 22 table. The Shaman totems and talents page tracks what Blizzard has and has not published.

What classes can Dwarves play? Six: Hunter, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, and Warrior. The nine-class roster shows the wider picture, and the race roster compares every race.
