Notes

Reported tree and Classic Era comparison

  • Reported counts: The September 25 community read lists 17 Holy talents: seven new, seven reworked, and three whose recorded text matches Classic Era client build 1.15.9.69722. Its source describes the talent data as a read of beta client build 1.60.1.70009.
  • Source boundary: WoW Forever Talents' Paladin tree and its data-method page report these counts and tooltip comparisons; they are not a Blizzard tree export. “Unchanged” means the text matches that Classic Era client table. The three matching entries are Divine Strength, Divine Intellect, and Divine Favor.
  • Healing Light: Healing Light remains 12% at three points, and now includes Holy Shock. The Classic text named Holy Light and Flash of Light.
  • Spiritual Focus: Spiritual Focus reaches 70% in two points and includes Light's Vigil. Classic reached 70% in five points and named only Holy Light and Flash of Light.
  • Improved Seals: Improved Seals lists 5/10/15% over three points for Seals and Judgements. Classic's five-point Improved Seal of Righteousness listed 3/6/9/12/15% for that Seal and its Judgement.
  • Illumination: Illumination keeps a 20/40/60/80/100% proc chance, but the recorded return is 50% of a spell's base Mana cost. Light's Vigil is added to the eligible healing spells. Classic's full-rank return was the full base cost.
  • Holy Power: Holy Power records 3/6/9/12/15% critical chance for Holy Shock and Holy Strike, and 1/2/3/4/5% for other spells. Classic listed 1/2/3/4/5% for Holy spells. The September 24 Holy Strike addition is Confirmed separately below; the rank scaling above remains a community client read.
  • Light's Vigil: Light's Vigil is the reported 31-point capstone. Its tooltip marks a target for 30 seconds and removes the cooldown from the next Holy Shock on that target. The enemy version lists 175 to 189 Holy damage and a 75% Mana-cost refund; the friendly version heals the target's party for 325 to 344. A Paladin may have one active per party. Blizzard later clarified which branch returns Mana.

Confirmed by Blizzard

Blizzard's September 24 beta development notes confirm these dated changes:

  • Holy Strike's cooldown was lowered to 10 seconds from 12.
  • Improved Holy Strike was removed from the Talent Tree; the developers say its behavior became baseline.
  • Holy Power now increases Holy Strike's Critical Strike chance by 15% and retains its previous effects.
  • Light's Vigil's tooltip was reorganized to clarify that only its damage component returns some of the Mana cost.

These notes describe a beta change and do not establish the final launch values.

What is still unknown

  • Whether the 1.60.1.70009 tree and tooltip values will remain through launch.
  • Equal-rank Holy Shock damage and healing changes. In the Holy chapter of Cajato's September 14 video, he notes at 3:56 to 4:04 that the demo and Classic tooltips show different trained spell ranks. Those displayed numbers alone do not establish a buff or a nerf.
  • The September 14 creator capture is historical. Its 5:00 frame still shows Improved Holy Strike as a separate talent; the September 24 Blizzard note supersedes that part of the recording.
