WoW Forever FAQ

WoW Forever answers in one place: beta access and dates, editions and price, the November 4 release, Skyborne classes, realmless rulesets, Hardcore, transmog, and gamepad support.

Beta day answers in one place. Every question below is answered in one to three sentences and points to the page that holds the evidence, the source link, and the open questions. Blizzard's beta is scheduled to start today, September 17, 2026; launch is November 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST.

Status words are used exactly as the editorial status labels define them: Confirmed means a checked first-party source says it, Planned means a scheduled or roadmap item, Reported means a source records it without first-party confirmation, Conflict means checked sources disagree, Unverified means no first-party confirmation was located, and Not announced means Blizzard has published nothing on the point.

WoW Forever beta FAQ

How to get WoW Forever beta access?

Blizzard Support lists three guaranteed routes: the Skyborne Epic Pack, the Warcraft Forever Collection, and the physical Collector's Edition. Digital purchases flag the buying account automatically, and optional signup does not guarantee an invitation. The beta access reference carries Support's wording and the opt-in details.

Does the Collector's Edition include beta?

Yes. The physical Collector's Edition delivers a redeemable beta code by email to the Gear Store purchase address. It was observed sold out on September 13, 2026, which the Collector's Edition sellout report dates and sources.

Do I need game time or a subscription to play the beta?

Blizzard Support says game time is not required to participate in the beta, but beta access is. The separate launch rule is different: a WoW Subscription or Game Time grants Forever access from November 4, and the upgrade and entitlement tables list which purchases include game time.

How long is the WoW Forever beta?

Blizzard's official Forever page now says the beta “begins on September 17, 2026, and is available through October 21, 2026,” matching the product and pre-purchase text. The roadmap image still says October 22, so the one-day difference is unresolved, though two Blizzard surfaces checked today carry October 21, plus the Battle.net product text as checked on September 12. The beta date record keeps both versions visible.

What level can I reach in the beta?

The roadmap card says "PLAY UP TO LEVEL 30." In a September 13 interview (video, 00:10:01–00:10:14), developers described a level-20 opening cap rising to level 30 after "a couple weeks," which is spoken direction rather than published policy. Route context for that range sits in the leveling checkpoints.

Where do I download the beta client?

Blizzard says the beta client appears in the Battle.net App once testing begins, for accounts that have access. Check your hardware separately against the published Windows and Mac specifications, since entitlement and readiness are different checks.

Can I stream or record the beta?

No NDA, embargo, or streaming rule for the Forever beta appears in the checked first-party sources. That is an absence of published policy, not permission; the beta reference page records the same gap.

Do beta characters carry over to launch?

Developers said everyone starts fresh at level 1 on November 4, 2026. Blizzard has published no formal wipe, retention, copy, or transfer policy for Forever, so treat the interview as planned direction.

WoW Forever price and release FAQ

How much is WoW Forever?

No edition purchase is required; a WoW Subscription or Game Time gets you in at launch. The optional US upgrades are $29.99 for the Skyborne Heroic Pack, $59.99 for the Skyborne Epic Pack, $79.99 for the Warcraft Forever Collection, and $150.00 for the sold-out Collector's Edition. Prices and inclusions sit in the editions comparison.

Can you buy WoW Forever permanently?

The digital upgrades are one-time purchases, but they do not replace the subscription or game time needed for ongoing play, and the checked sources list no permanent buy-once option. The Forever edition pricing report covers the announced digital items.

When does WoW Forever release?

November 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST. The first raid unlock follows on December 9, 2026, with Hardcore in winter and further updates in 2027, all of which the announced schedule tracks as plans rather than live content.

Can my PC run WoW Forever?

Blizzard publishes separate Windows and Mac minimum and recommended specifications, including a 128 GB SSD requirement on both platforms. The Mac video rows are formatted ambiguously and are preserved verbatim on the hardware requirements reference.

Classic and Classic Plus FAQ

What is the difference between Classic and Classic Plus?

WoW Classic is Blizzard's official recreation of the original game and its mode family. "Classic Plus" is community shorthand for adding new content in that design space, not a Blizzard product name. The product comparison keeps the labels separate.

Is WoW Forever the same as WoW Classic?

No. Blizzard's checked pages give Forever its own name, pre-purchase listing, beta rules, and launch date, and place it beside Modern and Classic WoW. The announcement record holds the original wording.

Classes and races FAQ

What classes can Skyborne be?

Both factions can play Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, and Druid. Alliance Skyborne can also play Mage; Horde Skyborne can also play Shaman. The Skyborne race guide carries the recap wording and the Zephras Isle purchase rule.

Can Dwarves be Shamans in WoW Forever?

Yes, Dwarf Shaman is confirmed, alongside Forsaken Paladin. No complete Forever race and class matrix is published, so the class roster and pairings marks each confirmed combination separately from the open ones.

Is there a WoW Forever talent calculator?

The talent trees and build planner covers all nine classes and produces a shareable build link. Its trees come from a community dataset and are Reported, not Blizzard data; no supported point-by-point Forever build is published.

Rules and systems FAQ

What does "realmless" mean in WoW Forever?

Players choose a ruleset rather than a server: PvP, Normal, RP, or Hardcore, sharing a world with the players on the same rules. Blizzard calls each ruleset its own large ecosystem, not one giant realm, and the realmless structure explainer carries the panel and post wording.

Is there PvP in Forever?

Yes. Blizzard announced a dedicated PvP ruleset, a 15 vs 15 Darkspear Islands battleground, honor revamps, and racial rebalancing, with season refreshes on the 2027 roadmap. The PvP evidence page separates confirmed mechanics from open tuning questions.

Is Hardcore in WoW Forever at launch?

No. The roadmap places Forever Hardcore in the winter section with no printed date, and Blizzard describes it as a post-launch ruleset. The Hardcore ruleset page covers what is announced and the unresolved date reports.

What carries across my characters?

Legacy Points are pooled across an account and spent per character, and appearance collections are shared across characters and rulesets. Hardcore is the exception: outside progress cannot enter it, though progress earned there carries out on transfer, as the Legacy system guide sets out.

Can I turn transmog off?

Yes. A transmogrifier NPC in certain cities can disable the feature, and choosing Classic Mode at first launch disables it automatically. Appearances still accumulate while display is off, which the transmog rules page details.

Is there flying or level scaling?

Neither. The What's Next panel recap says there are "no flying mounts, no level scaling, and a continued focus on challenge, preparation, communication, and cooperation," checked live on September 17, 2026. The systems overview tracks that rule beside the rest of the world rules.

Does WoW Forever support a controller?

The same recap announces "official gamepad support for players who prefer to play with a controller." No mapping, remapping, accessibility, or console-UI detail is published, and the gamepad support page records what is open.

Can I use the old character models?

Blizzard lists High-Definition and Standard-Definition character-model options plus modern and Classic visual presets, with restored Classic animations for HD models. Whether the choice is per character or client-wide is unpublished; the SD and HD model options hold the exact wording.

What is camping?

Camping expands the Cooking Fire into a Basic Campfire that creates an open-world campsite with rested status, vendors, repairs, profession workspaces, and one-hour buffs. Object limits, profession contributions, and blueprint sources sit on the campsite system guide.

What is still unknown

  • Beta start hour, shutdown hour, and wave schedule
  • The beta zone, dungeon, class, and race roster
  • A written wipe, copy, or transfer policy
  • Subscription and game time pricing for Forever
  • Realm caps, queues, datacenters, and cross-region play
  • Hardcore rules, permadeath details, and its exact date
  • Gamepad implementation, mapping, and accessibility options
  • Whether SD and HD model choice is per character

If you are starting from zero rather than looking up one answer, the start-here path for new players sequences access, edition, class, race, and leveling in order.
