What Blizzard Has Said
Darkspear Islands: Blizzard's September 12 panel recap described a 15 vs 15 Battleground off Kalimdor with strategic control points and Arathi Basin-style flag captures and defense. Its October 7 Darkspear article specifies four capture points and a central flag carried to a base your team holds; the first team to 2,000 points wins. The older comparison is dated recap wording, not a confirmed mechanics match.October 7 objective description, checked Oct 8, 2026.
Realmless PvP ecosystem: Blizzard’s Deep Dive panel recap announces that you pick an ecosystem ruleset instead of a server from a realm list. The realmless architecture guide explains what crosses a ruleset boundary and what doesn't. On the PvP ruleset, trips into contested territory mean open danger and world conflict. It has faction balance systems similar to Season of Discovery. Factions stay separated and cross-ruleset grouping isn't supported. Confirmed.
Characters who die on the post-launch Hardcore ruleset can transfer to PvP, the one door out of Hardcore’s enclosed ecosystem. Blizzard's September 21 ruleset article adds that on the PvP ruleset "players can only create characters for one faction,"
and that battlegrounds "may include players from other rulesets, with the exception of Hardcore, which remains separate."Blizzard: Choose Your Ruleset in World of Warcraft: Forever, checked Sep 25, 2026.
Confirmed.
PvP itemization and transmog: A developer said in the Deep Dive stream that resilience is not being added. For transmogrification, you still have to meet PvP gear's rank or other conditions before you can use its appearance (same stream, 34:01). Confirmed.
Racial combat balance in PvP: Key racial abilities have been reworked for PvP balance. Undead Will of the Forsaken removes Charm, Fear, and Sleep when you activate it, but no longer grants immunity afterward. Dwarf Stoneform removes Bleeds, Poisons, and Diseases and grants immunity to them. It reduces Physical damage taken instead of increasing Armor. Confirmed.
Honor system and rewards: The Battle.net product page announces honor revamps and PvP as a play focus. The PvP short names Honor quests, seasonal journeys, rank rewards, and a Legacy System for past-season items.

Confirmed. Blizzard's October 1 beta development notes then raised Honor costs for PvP gear and upgrade tokens, most by about 50%, and lifted the Honor cap from 15,000 to 25,000 "to better accommodate"

Choosing a Ruleset If You Mainly Want PvP
Pick the PvP ruleset for open-world conflict. Blizzard's general battleground policy lets in players from other rulesets, except Hardcore. It doesn't guarantee that a particular battleground is open, and it says nothing about Darkspear's current queue. The Darkspear Islands guide covers Darkspear's access separately from the ruleset choice.Confirmed, a first-party sourceSource: Choose Your Ruleset in World of Warcraft: Forever, Playing Together Within a Ruleset, checked Oct 3, 2026.

Switching Rulesets Later
You can't freely hop between rulesets. To play under a different one, you create a new character there. A PvP character started on the wrong faction is stuck too, because the PvP ruleset allows characters of one faction only. Decide both before your first long session. Confirmed.
Collections and Legacy Points are account-wide across rulesets. Hardcore is the exception: its progress can carry out to other rulesets, but nothing flows back in.Source: Choose Your Ruleset in World of Warcraft: Forever, checked Sep 28, 2026. The ruleset boundaries guide covers the full split. Confirmed.
Faction Balance on the PvP Ruleset
The same article says new character creation may be temporarily limited for a faction when balance needs support, as in Season of Discovery. It names no trigger or threshold. If your friends are rolling Alliance, create yours early rather than after a lock appears. Confirmed for the tool, unpublished for the rules.
What the Legacy System Pays Out for PvP
Blizzard's Legacy System article lists Player vs. Player as one of six Legacy Challenge categories. Each challenge grants one account-wide Legacy Point, and PvP holds 12 of the 65. Confirmed.
- Reach ranks 3, 7, 10, 13 and 14: 5 points.
- Exalted with each Battleground reputation: 4 points.
- Season's Journey weeks 4, 7 and 10: 3 points.
The journey's full name is the Field of Honor PvP Season's Journey. The Legacy article names weeks 4, 7, and 10 as point tasks; the later PvP article confirms that weekly tasks grant Honor and Rank Points and remain completable in later seasons.Source: Get to Know the World of Warcraft: Forever Legacy System, Player vs. Player challenges, checked Sep 28, 2026.
Seasonal Journey Weekly Tasks
Each season's journey has weekly tasks that grant Honor and Rank Points. Three tasks each season also grant a Legacy Point. Because they belong to the Legacy System, those tasks remain available in future seasons.Source: How PvP Progression in World of Warcraft: Forever Works, PvP Seasons, checked Oct 8, 2026.
Why PvP Matters for Every Character
PvP is the largest single category one character can clear. Blizzard says a single character can earn up to 29 points without an alt. PvP gives 12 of them, against 3 from leveling and 6 from tradeskills. At launch, spending is capped at 16 points per character, so PvP alone covers most of a character's budget. Confirmed.

Those points buy perks in three trees: Professions, Adventure and Resourcefulness. The Resourcefulness perk For Great Honor increases the Honor you gain from PvP. Adventure's High Alert raises stealth detection outside battlegrounds. The Legacy System guide covers the rest. Confirmed.
What the Rank List Implies
The published reward list runs through rank 14, ending with Epic Weapons.Source: How PvP Progression in World of Warcraft: Forever Works, rank rewards list, checked Oct 8, 2026.
Hardcore characters can't complete PvP Legacy Challenges. Blizzard plans 12 Hardcore-specific challenges for that ruleset's launch instead, and the Hardcore ruleset guide tracks that timing. Planned.
Darkspear Islands Factions and Progression
In beta build 1.60.1.70205 and Wowhead's current Forever faction records, Darkspear Raiders and Theramore Expeditionary Force are the island opponents. The client places them under Horde Forces and Alliance Forces respectively, and names an Exalted Master of Darkspear Islands Legacy goal.Reported, press or datamine, not confirmedSource: Darkspear Raiders and Theramore Expeditionary Force; beta build 1.60.1.70205, Faction 2798/2799 and Achievement 62049/64029, checked Oct 3, 2026.
Faction reputation, Honor and Legacy Points each track different progress. The client records don't show current queue access or a reputation payout. Read the island guide for its 15v15 format and client bracket, and use reputations for faction standing.
Client Rows Versus Announcements
Blizzard's October 7 article confirms Darkspear Islands is for player levels 30-60. The beta client row remains supporting test data and does not establish current queue eligibility. Blizzard has not announced arenas. The WoW Forever roadmap lists the dated PvP refreshes, and the new player primer covers what else is set for launch.
What Players Say
Across 400 remarks from 22 streamers, many describe dueling as fun and a good way to learn matchups. Complaints center on tournament rules that keep changing and on priest and mage matchups. Opinions from live streams, not confirmed facts.
“This is probably some of the best world PvP I've found in the beta yet. This is, like, really fun.”
