WoW Forever itemization changes

A fact-checked guide to planned hit, crit, weapon-skill, quest-reward, and loot changes.

Checked 8 facts, 8 from Blizzard

The gear puzzle is more fun when there's more than one answer. Blizzard says WoW Forever plans to 'unsolve' the gearing path with changes to hit, critical chance, weapon skill, and bonus healing. The announced refresh also reaches caster weapons, quest rewards, dungeon drops, and rare-creature loot. The facts below are the changes named in the Deep Dive recap.

Quick answer

Blizzard plans a broad gear update, including shared hit and critical chance, revised stats, caster weapons, and new or adjusted loot across Azeroth.

Planned stat changes

Blizzard says familiar stats will stay while others are reworked or added. The planned combat changes combine hit and critical chance across spell, melee, and ranged attacks. The recap gives a direction, not final item values or a complete stat table.

Weapon skill remains, but its items will provide less per piece. Bonus healing will also provide one third as much bonus damage. The recap gives that ratio without the item values needed to rate a finished piece.

Planned gear and loot updates

Some items will reduce the chance an attack is parried or dodged, and caster-oriented weapons will grant both spell damage and healing. For quest rewards, Blizzard names two examples: Mor’ladim’s quest will keep its two-handed sword and add the Ladimore Heirloom Ring for spellcasters, while Hemet Nesingwary’s quests will offer Master Hunter’s Spellsword.

Blizzard says its team re-examined every dungeon drop: memorable items remain, less exciting ones were adjusted, and hundreds of new drops were added. Unique dungeon-boss items are blue quality, and set bonuses have been improved. The recap also says world-drop epics were improved and hundreds of rare-creature drops were added. It names no epic or creature and gives no drop locations, chances, item ratings, or best-in-slot list. The broader dungeon guide and profession guide cover adjacent systems.
