Where this talent data comes from

The table above is generated from the talent dataset vendored with this site's calculator. Its own stated baseline is WoW Classic Era 1.15.9 client tables (vanilla talent trees), so a talent marked as matching that table is a comparison against vanilla, not a Blizzard statement that the talent is untouched in Forever.

That dataset cites each talent with its own locator strings rather than links. They are reproduced exactly as recorded and are not clickable, because no public URL is published for them.

Captured tree read

Cajato walks the Warrior calculator tree by tree; the Protection chapter runs from 9:28 to 13:44.

Protection is the Warrior tree that moved furthest from its Classic Era shape, and the movement has one direction: mitigation now pays rage. Shield Specialization keeps the same 1% block per point and the same 20% chance at the first rank, but a block returns five rage where Classic returned one. Master of Defense is a new talent that extends the idea past the shield's block: with a shield equipped, a dodge or parry has a 50% chance at the first rank to generate five rage, reaching a 100% chance fully invested. Between them, every successful defensive outcome becomes fuel for the next threat action rather than a wasted swing.

Threat is the second theme, and it is gated on the shield. Defiance now scales all threat generated in Defensive Stance by 5% per point, 15% at three points, and the tooltip requires a shield; the Classic talent added 3% threat from attacks with no shield clause at all. Bastion is new and reads as the tree's damage payment for tanking, 2% increased damage dealt per point while a shield is equipped. Vitality and Focused Rage are the other two new entries, the first adding Stamina and Strength, the second cutting the rage cost of offensive abilities. Vanguard makes Charge usable in Defensive Stance, though the recorded tooltip does not say Charge becomes usable in combat.

The capstone is Shield Slam, and its recorded tooltip is the clearest single card in the tree: 421 to 439 damage increased by block value, a 50% chance to dispel one magic effect, and very high threat.

Three Classic tanking talents are simply not in the tree as separate entries: Improved Shield Block, Improved Taunt and One-Handed Weapon Specialization. That is an absence in a demo calculator capture rather than an announced removal, and it is recorded here as such.

One number in the tree cannot be used. Improved Shield Wall shows a five and a half minute cooldown reduction on its first recorded rank with no baseline cooldown beside it, so Shield Wall's actual cooldown in Forever is unresolved and stays unresolved here. The wider Warrior picture, including the unified hit change that improves Taunt reliability and the rebalanced weapon skill, sits on the Warrior class guide. The two sibling trees have their own references: Arms Warrior and Fury Warrior. For how Forever talent trees are structured at all, including the 11, 16, 21 and 31-point milestones Blizzard confirmed, see the talent system guide.
