WoW Forever Beta Access and Dates
Beta status on your clock, who gets in, and every date with its source.
The Skyborne Epic Pack, the Warcraft Forever Collection or the physical Collector's Edition guarantees access, the Heroic Pack isn't on that list, and a subscription alone does not grant ordinary beta access.

Remember checking your inbox for a Classic 2019 beta or stress test invite? This time you can buy your way past the wait. Older beta end-date sources say October 21 or October 22. A separately announced October 21 stress test admits any WoW account without a subscription, then reopens the beta.
How to Get In
Blizzard Support's World of Warcraft Alpha or Beta Access article lists three guaranteed routes: the Skyborne Epic Pack, the Warcraft Forever Collection, and the physical World of Warcraft: Forever Collector's Edition. The same article says "Game time is not required to participate in the beta, but access is required."
Blizzard: World of Warcraft Alpha or Beta Access, checked Sep 17, 2026.
- Skyborne Epic PackGuaranteed. Blizzard flags the purchasing account automatically
- Warcraft Forever CollectionGuaranteed. Blizzard flags the purchasing account automatically
- Physical Collector's EditionGuaranteed through a code emailed to the address used at the Gear Store
- Opt-inA chance, not a guarantee; invitations go out regularly through the test
- Stress testOctober 21 stress test; any WoW account eligible, no active subscription required; beta reopens after the test
- Skyborne Heroic PackNot on Support's guaranteed list; it unlocks Skyborne and the Zephras Isle starting experience
- Subscription or Game Time aloneNot required for the beta, and not enough: beta access is required

Support says signing up doesn't guarantee access and that the signup form is available only while testing is active or shortly before it starts. A September 14 check found the Forever page's Beta & Game Updates section and its Beta Opt-In modal. It did not verify a completed submission or a confirmation receipt.
Check Your Account
- Digital Epic Pack or Collection. Order should show Complete.
- Opt-in. Selected accounts are flagged automatically.
- Physical Collector's Edition. Code arrives by email.
- Guaranteed access without the box. Pre-purchase digitally.
Digital Epic Pack or Collection: Blizzard's beta launch article warns of "minimal delays of up to 30 minutes"
and a possible launcher restart.Blizzard: The World of Warcraft: Forever Beta Now Live, checked Sep 25, 2026. If access never arrives, check that the order shows Complete in Battle.net Transaction History. A gifted upgrade flags the recipient's account, so talk to the friend who sent it.
Opt-in: If you're selected after signing up, your account is flagged automatically. Before you trust an invitation email, log in to Battle.net and look for a World of Warcraft: Forever beta license under Your Game Accounts. Blizzard points to that check as a guard against phishing.
Physical Collector's Edition: The beta code arrives by email. Support can't grant access, replace a lost code, or move a code redeemed on the wrong account. Collector's Editions bought at local retailers in Korea, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded from beta invites. The edition had sold out on the Blizzard Gear Store by September 13, 2026. On September 24 Blizzard made more English copies available, but it hasn't said when those buyers receive a beta code.
Guaranteed access without the box: Pre-purchase the digital Epic Pack or Collection on Battle.net. Prices and contents are in the upgrade price and entitlement tables. The beta announcement record keeps the September 12 wording next to these rules.
How Beta Access Worked
Blizzard scheduled the beta from September 17, 2026 through October 21, which its beta launch article calls "the last full day of testing."Blizzard: The World of Warcraft: Forever Beta Now Live, checked Sep 25, 2026.
The roadmap graphic says October 22. Guaranteed access came with the Skyborne Epic Pack, the Warcraft Forever Collection, and the physical Collector's Edition, per Blizzard Support's beta access article. Opt-in invitations remained a chance. Blizzard’s updated stress-test announcement schedules open participation for any WoW account on October 21, with no active subscription required.
Launch access is a separate rule. A WoW Subscription or Game Time grants Forever access from November 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST, and eligible upgrade purchases reserve names October 27 through November 3. The edition comparison lists what each upgrade adds, and the launch-day report puts the dates together.
Install the Beta
For an account with access, Blizzard's beta launch article lists these steps:
- Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.
- Run the Battle.net App and let it update itself.
- Select World of Warcraft from the list of games.
- Choose World of Warcraft: Forever Beta, then click Install.
- Click Play, then create a test character.
The Forever Beta sits under In Development in the Game Version menu above the Play button. When the install finishes, select any available test realm, then create a new test character.
Use the beta testing checklist to choose a dated test once you are in.
If the client doesn't show up, Support says to close and restart the app and make sure you're signed in to the correct Battle.net account. Support also warns that "The Beta client may be offline at any moment"
and that access is revoked for Code of Conduct violations.Blizzard: World of Warcraft Alpha or Beta Access, checked Sep 17, 2026. Blizzard hasn't published a preload date, download size, or standalone installer. Reports of an early download deadline come from the community, not a Blizzard deadline.

Platforms, Regions, and Hardware
The Battle.net product details list Windows and Mac, the regions Americas & Oceania, Europe, Korea, and Taiwan, and these languages: English (US), Español (AL), Português (BR), English (EU), Deutsch, Español (EU), Français, Русский, 한국어, 繁體中文. The page doesn't say every region or language gets the same beta timing or access. Console, Linux, mobile, cloud, and cross-play support are Not announced. The WoW Forever system requirements reference has the Windows and Mac tables; meeting them doesn't get you into the beta.
What Is in the Beta
Blizzard's beta launch article, published at 21:00 UTC on September 17, sets out the written plan:

Level 30 date. On September 30 Kaivax posted on the beta forum that the beta would go offline for maintenance on the morning of October 1 PDT: "Several hours later, the Beta will resume with an updated build that includes changes and fixes, with the level cap raised to 30."Confirmed, a first-party sourceBlizzard: Blizzard forums: Beta Update Maintenance - October 1, checked Oct 1, 2026.
The post didn't give an hour. Blizzard raised the cap with the October 1 update. Kaivax linked the beta development notes thread for the details.
The change list went up at 22:56 UTC on October 1. It confirms the level 30 cap, adds Excavation Site: Wetlands, opens Razorfen Downs and Uldaman, and lists class, PvP, profession and quest changes. The October 1 beta development notes summary covers them.Source: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes, October 1, Changes and Updates, checked Oct 1, 2026. These are confirmed beta changes, not launch promises.
The roadmap's beta card says "PLAY UP TO LEVEL 30"
.Blizzard: World of Warcraft: Forever What's Next Panel Recap, roadmap graphic, checked Sep 28, 2026. Neither source promises that every level-30 activity will be in the test, and the full list of quests, classes, raids, PvP systems, professions, and Camping features isn't settled. On September 24 Blizzard posted beta development notes with a new build and updated its known-issues topic. Our September 24 beta notes summary covers the class, race, and system changes, and the dungeon guide covers every dungeon now open in the beta.
Guide addons treat the beta differently. RestedXP already ships Forever route updates for beta zones such as Durotar and Mulgore.Source: RestedXP addon releases, v4.11.10, Sep 25, 2026. Zygor plans no beta guides.Source: Zygor's Forever announcement, checked Sep 28, 2026. RestedXP vs Zygor during the beta compares both.

The end date. October 21 appears on the Battle.net product page, the pre-purchase announcement, the official Forever page footnote, the beta launch article, and the updated Collector's Edition article, which gives the beta code an "access period of September 17 through October 21 PDT."Blizzard: Pre-Purchase the World of Warcraft®: Forever Collector’s Edition (updated 9/24), checked Sep 25, 2026.
The roadmap graphic reads September 17 to October 22. "Last full day" does not settle the older October 21/22 conflict, so both dates stay visible. Blizzard’s updated stress-test announcement schedules a temporary beta shutdown on October 21, a few hours on production realms, a complete wipe of stress-test characters and names, and then reopening the beta. That sequence is distinct from the older October 21 text versus October 22 image end-date conflict; it does not establish a final beta shutdown date.

"PLAY UP TO LEVEL 30".Blizzard: Blizzard, What's Next panel recap
: Developer Interview: Staged Beta Cap
. Developers described a level-20 start and a raise to 30 after a couple weeks.
In a September 13, 2026 interview on Destin’s YouTube channel, Blizzard developers described a staged beta cap. The Icy Veins report names the participants as Associate Production Director Clay Stone and Lead Software Engineer Nora Mills, but the temporary English captions don't say who is speaking, so this guide doesn't credit any single line to either person.
| Test point | Developer-described plan | Evidence and boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Beta opening | Start with a level-20 cap. | Video, 00:10:01 to 00:10:06; planned direction, not verified live behavior |
| Later in beta | Raise the cap to level 30 after “a couple weeks” and keep it there for the rest of the test. | Video, 00:10:08 to 00:10:14; no date in the interview; the raise came October 1 per Blizzard's forum post; staying at 30 for the rest of the test is a developer statement, planned |
| Launch | Developers described everyone starting fresh at level 1 and framed levels 30 to 60 as content not experienced during the beta. | Video, 00:10:14 to 00:10:28; planned spoken direction, not a formal written wipe policy |
These timecodes point to temporary automatic English captions fetched from the video, not an official Blizzard transcript. “A couple weeks” is approximate. Blizzard's September 17 beta launch article later confirmed the 20-then-30 plan in writing, without the “couple weeks” timing. Blizzard's September 30 forum post then set the raise for October 1, two weeks after the start, and the cap went to 30 with the October 1 update.
: What the September 12 Announcements Name
. Launch content named at BlizzCon. None of it is a beta roster.
The broader Forever announcements are product context for the full game, not a list of what's in the beta:
| Announced material | What the source establishes | Beta status |
|---|---|---|
| Skyborne from Zephras Isle, Dwarf Shaman, Forsaken Paladin, updated class design, honor and profession revamps, the Camping system, over 1,000 new quests, new or expanded zones, new dungeons, and max-level raids | Named as Forever product content on the Battle.net page. | Skyborne, Zephras Isle, and four new dungeons are in the beta (two from Week 1, Excavation Site: Wetlands from October 1, City of Dalaran from October 8); the rest is not announced |
| Three new zones, nine new dungeons, and two new raids | Counts from Blizzard's Opening Ceremony recap. | Full-game announcement, not a beta roster |
| New dungeons, 10-player and 20-player raids, new or expanded zones, race and class combinations, and 1,000+ quests | Launch feature bullets in the official @Warcraft feature post. | Planned product context, not beta confirmation |
| Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit, and Onyxia's Lair | The roadmap plans a December 9 raid unlock with 10-, 20-, and 40-player entries. | Planned after launch, not beta content |
| Hardcore, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 updates | Later roadmap cards; the roadmap says timing can change. | Planned future milestones, not beta content |
Not Announced Yet
The Blizzard pages we checked don't publish:
- an opening or shutdown hour for the beta;
- the final beta shutdown date;
- a phase or wave schedule or an alpha date;
- open and closed test labels;
- a written rule on beta characters at launch;
- character migration or transfer from other WoW versions or accounts;
- beta character slots, datacenters, queues, or population limits;
- regional routing or cross-region play;
- a Forever NDA, streaming or recording rule, or embargo;
- a Forever spoiler rule, feedback form, or in-client report path.
The older October 21/22 conflict remains separate from the announced stress-test shutdown and reopening; neither establishes the final beta shutdown date.
That character rule would say whether beta characters are wiped, kept, copied, or converted at launch; developers said in the September 13 interview that everyone starts fresh at level 1. The transfer item covers Modern WoW, WoW Classic Era, WoW Classic Progression, and another account.
The general Character Transfer Information and Restrictions article isn't a Forever rule: its product tabs name World of Warcraft, WoW Classic Era, and WoW Classic Progression only. Support says there are no beta forums yet and points to the World of Warcraft Forever forum (US).

After the Beta: Names and Launch
Blizzard's September 21 naming guide says "Early Name Reservation will be available from October 27 through November 3, 2026, for eligible upgrade purchases,"
with names "reserved on a first-come, first-served basis."
Each character has two names, and the full combination is "unique within a region."Blizzard: Create a Name of Your Own in WoW: Forever, checked Sep 25, 2026.
Name reservation is launch preparation, not a character transfer, and it doesn't answer whether beta characters persist.
- Subscription or Game TimeGrants Forever access from launch, November 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST
- 30 days of Game TimeIncluded with Epic and Collection; activates at launch under the listed edition rules
- Early Name ReservationOctober 27 through November 3, up to three characters on the purchasing account, first come, first served; no name is guaranteed
- Invite-A-Friend codeEmailed from October 20; an eligible invitee plays November 4 to 11, not the beta. Heroic gives one code, Epic and Collection three; gift purchases are excluded
- Warcraft Forever CollectionOn sale through January 11, 2027
- Skyborne and Zephras IsleRequire the Skyborne Heroic Pack or a higher edition
The Invite-A-Friend support article says these codes don't grant Skyborne, the Zephras Isle starting experience, Game Time, or another WoW version, and an account that already bought a Forever upgrade can't redeem one. Support version 13, updated September 14 at 15:40:52Z, adds one individual email per code from October 20. It also says a physical Collector's Edition's three codes add to three from a digital purchase, six total. The same text lists Heroic as one code, so a Heroic plus Collector's Edition combination (four or six) is unresolved.
According to the Deep Dive Panel Recap and the @Warcraft realmless announcement, launch runs on four rulesets, Normal (PvE), PvP, RP, and Hardcore, in a Realmless architecture. Blizzard's September 21 ruleset article says playing under another ruleset means you "need to create a new character in that ruleset."Blizzard: Choose Your Ruleset in World of Warcraft: Forever, checked Sep 25, 2026.
Hardcore arrives after launch. The ruleset architecture guide covers what each one allows, and the Forever, Classic, and Retail comparison keeps its open questions. The November 4 rollout report and the dated roadmap post report give these dates next to the raid unlock.

What Players Say
Across 26 streamers, 22 had at least one positive take, mostly about new quests and lighting, and 25 had at least one complaint, especially about bugs, latency, and Auction House access. Opinions from live streams, not confirmed facts.
“The lag is very obvious if I try to play fast. If I don't have to play fast, it's kind of whatever.”
WoW Forever Beta FAQ
When did the WoW Forever beta start?
On September 17, 2026. No Blizzard page published an opening hour. Wowhead relayed a Blizzard post saying the beta would go live after the 10:30 a.m. PDT Forever Q&A; that is a Reported claim, because the post itself could not be retrieved.
How long is the WoW Forever beta?
Blizzard scheduled it from September 17, 2026 through October 21, which its beta launch article calls "the last full day of testing."Blizzard: The World of Warcraft: Forever Beta Now Live, checked Sep 25, 2026.
The official roadmap image says October 22 instead. Blizzard has not reconciled that older conflict, so both dates stay on this page.
How do I get a WoW Forever beta key or access code?
Blizzard Support lists three guaranteed routes: the Skyborne Epic Pack, the Warcraft Forever Collection, and the emailed code from a physical Collector's Edition. Digital purchases flag the account automatically, so there is no key to enter. Opting in on the official Forever page is free but only a chance.
Can I play the WoW Forever beta for free?
Opting in offers a chance at an ordinary beta invitation. Blizzard’s updated stress-test announcement says any WoW account can participate on October 21 without an active subscription. It schedules a few hours on production realms, followed by a complete stress-test character and name wipe and reopening of the beta.
Is game time or a subscription required for the beta?
Blizzard Support says game time is not required to participate in the beta, but access is required. Launch is a separate rule: the Battle.net product page says a WoW Subscription or Game Time grants full Forever access starting November 4, 2026.
Does the Collector's Edition include beta access?
Yes. Support lists the physical Collector's Edition as a guaranteed route, through a code emailed to the address used at the Gear Store. Blizzard hasn't said when buyers of the copies restocked on September 24 receive that code, and Collector's Editions bought at local retailers in Korea, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded.
Where do I download the WoW Forever beta client?
In the Battle.net App: select World of Warcraft, open the Game Version menu, and choose World of Warcraft: Forever Beta under In Development. If it is missing, restart the app and check the signed-in account. No preload date, download size, or standalone installer is published. Blizzard's October 1 known issues say the install is larger than intended and Blizzard is working to reduce it.
When does WoW Forever name reservation start?
Early Name Reservation runs October 27 through November 3, 2026 for eligible upgrade purchases: up to three characters on the purchasing account, first come, first served. Blizzard hasn't published an opening hour.
Will WoW Forever beta characters be wiped or transferred?
Blizzard’s updated stress-test announcement explicitly says stress-test characters and names will be completely wiped before the beta reopens. That is a stress-test rule; it does not settle ordinary beta character retention, copies, migration or transfers at launch. In the September 13 developer interview, developers said everyone will start fresh at level 1 when the game launches on November 4, 2026. Treat that as planned spoken direction, not a published policy.
What are the WoW Forever system requirements?
Blizzard publishes separate Windows and Mac minimum and recommended specifications. Read the Mac video row ambiguity alongside the full tables. Whether your hardware is ready and whether you have beta entitlement are separate checks. Questions outside the beta, such as pricing, rulesets, and race and class access, are answered in the Forever question index.

. What Blizzard's pages said before the beta opened: dates, Q&A times, the client rule.
We read every line below on a Blizzard page during a first-party sweep between 12:46 and 12:57 UTC on September 17, 2026, before the Q&A stream started. The one exception is the Wowhead item, a fansite relay of a Reddit post that could not be retrieved, labeled Reported for that reason.
The beta window on a second Blizzard page. The official World of Warcraft: Forever page carries a dated footnote:
Blizzard
WoW®: Forever Beta begins on September 17, 2026, and is available through October 21, 2026.
That put October 21 on a second Blizzard-hosted page, after the Battle.net product page and the pre-purchase article, while the roadmap image read September 17 to October 22. Status: Conflict.
The Q&A was split, with the Forever half at 10:30. The Live Q&A article said:

The client appears only once testing begins. Blizzard Support's beta access article, unchanged since roughly September 14, said:
Blizzard
If you have Beta access, the Beta client will be available for installation in the Battle.net App once testing begins. If you don't see the option, close your Battle.net App, restart it, and make sure you are logged in with the correct account.
Status: Confirmed.
A second-hand report put the start right after the Q&A. Wowhead's beta-timing report said Blizzard posted on the r/classicwow subreddit that the beta would go live following the 10:30 a.m. PDT Forever Q&A. We could not retrieve the Blizzard post itself, so this is Wowhead's relay, not Blizzard's own published wording. Status: Reported.
Still not announced during the sweep: a beta start hour on any Blizzard page, the beta level cap, beta patch notes or a known-issues list, an NDA or streaming rule, and a wipe or carryover policy. No Blizzard article or Forever forum staff post had appeared by 12:57 UTC. The beta launch article followed at 21:00 UTC and published the level cap; patch notes and a known-issues list followed on September 17 and 24.
