This page defines common WoW Forever terms in plain English and links each one to the deeper page that carries the sources and evidence labels. Definitions summarize what the linked reference actually says; open questions remain marked on those pages.
Beta
WoW Forever’s playable pre‑release test. Access is granted in waves and is not guaranteed by sign‑up alone. Developers described a planned phase that starts at level 20 and later rises to 30; that is spoken direction rather than verified live behavior. See the full timelines, opt‑in, and download details in the beta reference.
Camping (Campfires)
A social/utility system tied to campfires—repairing, sharing buffs, and resting. The guide tracks what’s confirmed in builds versus panel language. See camping.
Classes and specs
Forever launches with the familiar class lineup and talent trees. The guide index links to each class page and, where evidence supports it, to spec‑level talent references. Start at classes.
Dungeons and raids
Group‑based PvE content. Dungeon and raid coverage lists confirmed instances and planned additions as the cycle unfolds, noting where only panel language exists so far. See dungeons and raids.
Editions and upgrades
Subscription or Game Time supplies launch access; there is no paid “Base” edition. Optional named upgrades are the Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack, the Warcraft Forever Collection, and the physical Collector’s Edition. Pricing, inclusions, and beta‑access routes are listed with citations in editions.
Hardcore (Ruleset)
One of Forever’s four rulesets. Hardcore arrives after launch (no date published). It is an enclosed ecosystem where a dead Hardcore character may transfer to another ruleset; progress does not flow into Hardcore from outside. See systems: Hardcore.
Leveling
How a new character advances. Forever’s leveling guide tracks zone ranges, recommended routes, and any Hardcore‑ or Realmless‑specific notes. See leveling.
Milestone talents
The class trees follow a Classic‑minded structure with milestone talents at 11, 16, 21, and 31 points. These mark notable power or build pivots; see examples and layouts in talents.
PvP
Player‑versus‑player systems and battlegrounds, with notes on rewards and seasonal structure where announced. See PvP.
Professions
Crafting and gathering include hundreds of new recipes and some overhauled systems like Cooking. The professions page collects the confirmed lists and panel recaps. See professions.
Races
Play as the classic races plus Skyborne; each race page tracks racials, start zones, and known appearance options with evidence labels. Browse races.
Realmless architecture
Forever removes the realm list. You pick a ruleset—Normal, PvP, Roleplaying, or Hardcore—and play with everyone who picked the same one. This is an architecture choice, not a ruleset itself. Cross‑ruleset grouping is not supported. See systems: Realmless.
Roadmap
Blizzard’s sequence of planned updates. The roadmap image and text have shifted as events progressed; dates, features, and later clarifications are recorded with their retrieval times. See roadmap.
SD/HD character models
Forever lets players choose between the original SD (standard definition) and newer HD (high definition) character models. The toggle is a visual preference; animation and geometry details are covered on the systems page. See systems: SD and HD models.
System requirements
Hardware and OS requirements for Forever clients as published by Blizzard Support. See system requirements.
Transmog toggle
Opt‑out visibility means you see other players’ actual equipped gear while your account continues collecting new appearances. Group and raid appearance‑grant rules, level and armor restrictions, and the Classic‑preset default are recorded in transmog.
