What Blizzard Has Said

The Deep Dive recap says trees keep one-point milestones at 11, 21 and 31 points, plus the new 16-point milestone.

The Legacy System article says Talented "allows players to unlock talent points up to 5 levels lower than normal".Blizzard: Legacy System article.

World of Warcraft's official channel posts the Forever Deep Dive from BlizzCon 2026, September 13, 2026. The talent chapter starts at 40:05.

Where the Sources Disagree

On October 3, all 27 trees were checked against public-client build 1.60.1.70205. The static trees and the interactive calculator both read the website projection. Tooltip text keeps the 70009 baseline plus documented Blizzard and 70170 corrections. The comparison does not confirm how hotfixes or refunds work at runtime today.

Crusade is gone from build 1.60.1.70009. It was a Retribution talent that raised all damage dealt by up to 2%. Blizzard's September 24 notes do not mention it. Reported (client read, WoW Forever Talents).

October 7 Deep Dive Against the Client Snapshot

Blizzard's descriptions are Confirmed from its October 7 article.Blizzard: Mage and Shaman class deep dives, checked Oct 8, 2026. Each row names the client record and build used for its comparison. Existing guide data is cited at build 1.60.1.70009; Ice Block, Heating Up, and Water Shield are checked against retained build 1.60.1.70205 records. This row-by-row check does not refresh every tree or establish runtime behavior.

How Much the Trees Changed From Classic

Reading build 1.60.1.70009, Wowforevertalents.com counts 467 talents across the nine classes: 111 new, 281 reworked from their Classic Era wording and 75 that match Classic word for word.Source: WoW Forever Talent Changes from Classic, checked Sep 28, 2026. Reported. Those counts come from build 1.60.1.70009, before the October 1 build removed King of the Jungle and added two Feral talents. This page's markers treat a talent as unchanged when only the capital letters differ. That moves seven talents, Frostbite and Seal Fate among them, from reworked to unchanged: 274 reworked and 82 unchanged.

Which Classes Changed Most

Paladin and Warlock carry the most new talents, 18 each, followed by Hunter with 14. Mage has only 5 new talents and keeps more unchanged from Classic than any other class, so a Classic Mage will recognize most of its trees. Warlock Destruction, Druid Balance and Druid Feral Combat have no talent left as Classic wrote it. Reported.

Share Image: BlizzCon slide titled Retribution Paladin Talents with cards for Vindication, Sacred Arbiter, Champion of the Light, Instrument of Law and Twist of Light

The September 13 slide shows Sacred Arbiter's Holy Strike bonus at 10%; Blizzard's September 24 notes raised it to 20%.

Every class also grew. By the client read, the Classic Era trees hold 432 talents and Forever's hold 467, with Paladin rising from 44 to 50 and Mage from 49 to 54. Tree sizes run from 16 talents (Paladin Protection, Hunter Beast Mastery, Shaman Elemental and Restoration, Warlock Destruction, Druid Balance and Druid Restoration) to 19 (Rogue Subtlety, Mage Frost, Warlock Demonology and Druid Feral Combat). Reported.

What the September 24 Build Removed and Renamed

Blizzard's September 24 notes remove Holy's Improved Holy Strike and make its 2-second cooldown cut baseline, because an early cooldown cut in a healing tree made it "feel like a talent that was required."Blizzard: September 24 beta development notes. Confirmed. Crusade, the Row 4 Retribution talent, is also gone from the client, and those notes have no line about it.

BlizzCon Deep Dive slide titled Holy Paladin Talents, with cards for Improved Holy Strike, Voice of Truth, Reverence and Divine Favor

At BlizzCon, Holy still had Improved Holy Strike, a 2 second Holy Strike cooldown cut that Blizzard's September 24 notes removed and made baseline.

Two Feral talents kept their slots under new names, both Blizzard's September 24 renames: Mangle is now Primal Bite, and Primal Fury is now Blood Frenzy with its original icon. Berserk and Ferocity now name Primal Bite in their tooltips. Confirmed, and the client read carries all four. The Feral Combat guide covers how the spec plays with them.

How Rows and Prerequisites Work

A tree's next row opens after 5 more points in that tree, as it did in Classic Era. Row 7 needs 30 points in the tree, and the capstone is your 31st. Reported. Blizzard's milestones at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points line up with Rows 3, 4, 5 and 7.

Some talents have a prerequisite on top of the row rule. In build 70009, Elemental Alacrity sits on Row 3 with no prerequisite; Call of Thunder, on Row 4, needs 3 points in Elemental Alacrity, and Elemental Fury, on Row 6, needs Call of Thunder. Blizzard's notes confirm the Row 3 and Row 6 swap; the prerequisite chain is Reported. Blizzard's October 15 notes remove Call of Thunder and make Elemental Fury require Lightning Overload.Blizzard: October 15 beta notes, Shaman > Elemental. The Elemental spec guide walks through that path.

Tuning the Client Already Carries

Most of the September 24 pass adjusted numbers, not layout. Each of these is Confirmed in Blizzard's notes and shows in the 70009 text:

Lava Burst, a one-rank Elemental talent, now lists 150 to 193 Fire damage, up from 105 to 135 in the prior build. Blizzard confirms the buff, which it pitches as about 10% over the matching Lightning Bolt rank. The exact figures are Reported from the client.

What the October 1 Build Changed

Blizzard's October 1 beta notes change more talents. Each is Confirmed for the beta, and the website projection includes the verified Heating Up and Soul Harvest names, Shifting Power and Improved Shifting Power, and the Feral moves.Source: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes, October 1, checked Oct 1, 2026.

  • New: Shifting Power, a Feral talent in Row 4.
  • Connected to Shredding Attacks.
  • Cat Form only.
  • Costs 55% of base Mana, turns it into 40 Energy.
  • 16 second cooldown.
  • New: Improved Shifting Power in Row 5.
  • Cuts that cooldown by 4/8 seconds.
  • Removed: , a Feral talent.
  • Renamed: Hot Streak is now Heating Up.
  • Renamed: Soul Harvesting is now Soul Harvest.
  • Hunter:
  • Deflection's Parry increase is 1/2/3/4/5%, was 2/4/6/8/10%.
  • Sniper Shot, the 31st Marksmanship talent, has a 45-yard range.
  • Mage: Combustion has 3 charges, was 4.
  • Paladin:
  • Redoubt's block chance is 4/8/12/16/20%, was 6/12/18/24/30%.
  • Holy Shield's block chance is 30%, was 20%.
  • Champion of the Light's Intellect to Spell Damage ratio:

- 20/40/60%, was 33/66/100%.

The character sheet now also says that spells cast at ranks far below your level are less likely to activate talents such as Frostbite and Omen of Clarity. The class changes guide lists every October 1 class change by class.

What the Calculator Still Can't Show

Three tooltips kept from the 70009 baseline print a bracketed [?] instead of a number: Hunter Resourcefulness, Rogue Riposte and Warlock Demonic Brand. Those values remain unresolved. The spell text has not been confirmed to match 70205 in full. Reported.

Checked Snapshot and Unresolved Nodes

The comparison used build 1.60.1.70205, build configuration 842b2e5d11f8d6fe257a5b73bd5cf6c6. It checked ranks, positions, prerequisite edge types and spending conditions in all 27 class trees. The client's normal-point currency grants one point at each level from 10 to 60, which gives 21 at the tested planning cap of 30 and 51 at 60. The timing of the Talented Legacy perk is not counted.

Blizzard's October 2 Warrior notes disagree with the exported base tables. They remove , and Toughness, and they move and six other talents. The snapshot keeps those nodes, plus Bastion and , visible but unavailable. The new Lingering Rage, Furious Precision and Gore Drinker are excluded until their complete positions and identities can be reconciled. Flurry keeps the Death Wish prerequisite Blizzard documents. While the conflicting nodes are unavailable, Warrior Protection currently stops at eight supported points, before its later spending gates.

Two off-grid duplicate records are excluded from this projection: Hunter Lightning Reflexes ID 104982, which 110859 stands in for, and Priest Holy Specialization ID 105865, which 110855 stands in for. Both records stay in the raw client groups; exclusion does not mean they were deleted. Improved Serpent Sting sits off the grid vertically; its position is normalized using its 15-point group condition.

The generated trait constants separate sufficient edges from required edges. Intimidation can follow either Bestial Swiftness or Bestial Wrath. The planner errs on the cautious side: it checks that a purchase order exists, and it rejects a self-supporting reciprocal pair. Live refund behavior and the full-parent-rank activation convention remain unverified, so level-60 builds are for planning, not a guarantee that the build is legal in the live game.

Current links keep your class, planning level and allocation. Older y links use frozen client-ID slots, and Druid z links use the earlier corrected Feral order. The oldest unprefixed and x formats map frozen names only when the match is unambiguous. A link with invalid data, repurposed talents, unavailable nodes or removed talents is rejected as a whole. When that happens, the planner keeps your existing build and explains the problem instead of reassigning or dropping points.

Talent Points Are Not Legacy Points

Talent points come from leveling one character, 51 by level 60. Legacy points come from 65 account-wide challenges and are spent in three seven-perk trees, Professions, Adventure and Resourcefulness, with a 16-point cap per character at launch. Confirmed by Blizzard's Legacy System article. Resourcefulness there is a perk tree, not the Hunter talent above.

The one overlap is the Adventure perk Talented, which unlocks talent points up to 5 levels earlier. Blizzard describes it as a timing change and names no extra points. If you are leveling an alt to 60, pair it with a route guide: RestedXP says every Forever route "will be optimized for your class."Planned, first-party, in the future tense

What Players Say

Across 23 streamers, talent choices depended on level, matchup and activity, and several were still testing builds; some called mage Fire and Arcane rough at level 30. Opinions from live streams, not confirmed facts.

“Thoughts on shadow spec talents. They're good after 40 if you're thinking about leveling.”

Hydramist on Twitch , beta Watch the moment

“It's really, really hard to say what's going to be meta before you see how the legacy points feel.”

Whaazz on Twitch , beta Watch the moment

“My spec is not the meta, but it's fun.”

Payo on Twitch , beta Watch the moment

“I think Fire and Arcane are absolutely rough at level 30.”
