Embed settings
Every embed is one address, https://wowforeverguides.com/embed/countdown, with a few settings in its query string. The builder above writes them for you. This is what each one changes.
| Setting | Values | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
theme | dark (default), light | Dark stone or light parchment plate |
size | large 640×240 (default), compact 300×150, badge 400×150, lower-third 1920×1080 | The layout, which scales to the box it gets |
bg | transparent | Clears the page behind the plate |
seconds | 0 | Hides seconds and updates once a minute |
An unknown value falls back to the default, so a typo still shows a working countdown. The lower third is always transparent behind its plate.
Adding it to OBS or Streamlabs
- Add a Browser source (OBS) or Browser Source (Streamlabs).
- Paste the lower third or badge URL.
- Set the width and height to the preset.
The lower third covers the whole canvas and puts its plate low on the left. The badge is a small plate for a corner. Both scale with the source, so a 1280 by 720 canvas works too.
What the embed loads
The embed is one small page from this site. It runs no analytics, shows no ads and sets no cookies. Beyond the page it loads two font files and the site logo, all from wowforeverguides.com. Without JavaScript it shows the launch date in place of the timer.
What happens at launch
At 3:00 p.m. PST on November 4 the timer doesn't run past zero. Every copy, on this page, on your site and on stream, switches to "WoW Forever is live" with the launch date, so a widget left up after launch night still says something true. You don't need to change your code.
If Blizzard moves the date, it changes here once and every embed follows on its next load, because each one reads the time from this site. The release date article keeps Blizzard's exact wording, and the roadmap lays out every card after launch.
Planning your first night
The clock is the easy part. Before the servers open, pick a class from the class guides and read the leveling guide for the level 60 cap and the zone ranges. Early Name Reservation runs October 27 to November 3; the beta guide's launch section covers what it allows.
If you'd rather follow a route than plan one, the RestedXP guide sets out what its Forever routes cover, and Zygor vs RestedXP compares the two leveling addons.
