What the Evidence Supports

Forsaken Paladin is confirmed, but the What’s Next recap has no Paladin-specific spell, seal, or talent list. Blizzard’s product page confirms expanded options including Dwarf Shaman and Forsaken Paladin, and says gameplay updates apply across all specializations. The Deep Dive recap lists six new combinations, Undead Paladin among them, with more planned. The What’s Next recap describes noticeable talents and abilities with meaningful trade-offs. A deleted first roadmap image listed two more combinations for spring. Blizzard's current roadmap graphic doesn't.

October 1 Beta Build Changes

Redoubt gives less block chance, Holy Shield gives more, and Champion of the Light turns less Intellect into spell damage. Blizzard's October 1 beta development notes change two Protection talents and one Retribution talent. The changes are confirmed for the beta, not promised for launch.Source: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes, October 1, checked Oct 1, 2026. Our October 1 beta notes summary lists every class.

Fixed October 8: now uses the Paladin's spell power, not the target's. Its base damage returned to Vanilla values (about a 33% reduction), and its spell power ratio dropped to 6% from 13.3%.Blizzard: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes, October 8, Paladin, checked Oct 11, 2026.

Early Player Reads and Community Impressions

In community analysis, Protection Paladin is an early player favorite, though tank rankings wait on beta raid testing. Khalma reads its toolkit (including threat generation, mana sustain, defensive cooldowns and a single-target taunt) as potentially positioning it as a top tank in Forever, and says he plans to main it. Blizzard's Deep Dive panel recap backs up part of that: Protection gains dedicated tanking and threat tools, alongside baseline Blessing of Kings. Comparative tank rankings remain Khalma's personal opinion until beta raid testing checks them.

Race and Faction Limits

A Paladin can be Human or Dwarf on the Alliance, or Undead on the Horde, and Tauren Paladin is not in Blizzard's table. Blizzard's Create the Hero tables, published September 22, 2026, list those three Paladin races. Confirmed. No other race is marked for Paladin.

Three Paladin race entries appear in the demo: Human and Dwarf on Alliance, Undead on Horde.

Blizzard calls the same race Forsaken on Battle.net and Undead in the Deep Dive recap and tables. The Warcraft Tavern demo table reported the same Horde access earlier. Undead Paladin is one of the six named race pairings on the race hub, which also quotes the Forsaken racials.

How Each Specialization Plays in Forever

Each specialization gets new tools while the class keeps meaningful gaps. That is the rule Blizzard's Deep Dive recap sets for all three trees. Every class tree keeps its Classic row count and its one-point milestones at 11, 21 and 31 points, plus the new 16-point milestone. Confirmed.

The numbers below come from the community's read of beta client build 1.60.1.70009, which is newer than the September 13 panel.Source: WoW Forever Talents, Paladin page, checked Sep 28, 2026. Reported. Where the panel and the client disagree, we show both.

Holy: More Ways to Heal, Still a Healer

Holy gets short Silence and Interrupt immunity, Mana regeneration while you cast, and a faster Holy Light for mixing spells. Voice of Truth gives you 6 seconds of immunity to Silence and Interrupt effects. At 3 ranks, Reverence lets 30% of your Mana regeneration continue while you cast. After a Holy Shock or Flash of Light crit, Infusion of Light gives you a Holy Light that casts 1 second faster, if you cast it within 15 seconds, so healers mix spells.

The panel also moves Holy Shock to a 10 second cooldown. Consecrated Ground gives Holy spells 10% more damage against the first 4 enemies that enter . Light's Vigil makes your next Holy Shock on its target skip the cooldown, then either damages an enemy or heals the target's party.

Improved Holy Strike, from the recap, is gone. The September 24 notes above removed it and made its effect baseline, so Holy builds no longer spend a point there. The Holy Paladin talent guide has the full tree.

Protection: Mana, Taunts and a Panic Button

Protection gets Mana back from shields and blocks, a retry on a missed taunt, and a panic-button absorb. Improved Seal of Fury restores 60 Mana when Seal of Fury's shield is fully absorbed. At 3 ranks, Shield Specialization gives each block a 100% chance to restore 6% of maximum Mana in the build read (4% per the October 15 notes), at most once every 3 seconds. Swift Judgement ends Judgement's cooldown and makes the next Judgement free, so a missed taunt can be retried.

Templar's Bulwark absorbs damage equal to 100% of maximum health for 8 seconds and applies Forbearance. Reckoning now also procs from blocks, for tanks who can't be crit. In the build 1.60.1.70009 read, Iron Creed adds 25% threat and, under , 10% less damage taken for 6 seconds; Cajato's capture marks the full rank as an estimate. Cajato's earlier demo read showed Improved Righteous Fury trading its threat bonus for 6% less damage taken. The Protection Paladin talent guide covers the rest.

In the October 1 beta build, Redoubt gives 4/8/12/16/20% block chance (was 6/12/18/24/30%). gives 30% block chance (was 20%).

Retribution: Melee First, Holy on the Side

Retribution gets more Holy Strike damage, spell damage from Intellect, and a seal that lasts one more swing after a swap. Vindication lowers the target's Attack Power by 204 and raises yours by 3%. adds 20% Holy Strike damage and refreshes Judgements on the target. adds spell damage equal to 20%, 40% or 60% of Intellect in the October 1 beta build (was 33%, 66% or 100%).

leaves an Echo of the Seal you replace, so your next swing still applies it. Blizzard pitches that as seal twisting without a swing timer addon. The Retribution Paladin talent guide lists every point.

Where the Panel and the Client Disagree

Treat the client text for Instrument of Law as the current beta, and expect more changes. The panel said Instrument of the Law makes Holy Wrath instant and lowers threat. The client's Instrument of Law instead cuts Hammer of Wrath's cast time by 1 second and your threat by 20% while Righteous Fury is off.

What the Class Still Cannot Do

Paladins still have no interrupt, no way to slow targets and no one-button taunt. The recap names all three as gaps Blizzard kept: unlike some other classes, Paladins can't slow targets, and the taunt runs through the Seal and Judgment system rather than one button. Paladins stay strong against Undead and Demons through Exorcism, Holy Wrath and Turn Undead, and have fewer ranged options against other enemies. Confirmed.

Paladin Racials by Playable Race

Human, Dwarf and Undead Paladins each keep two active and two passive racials. Blizzard's September 22 tables open the class to those three races: Human and Dwarf for the Alliance, Undead for the Horde.Source: Blizzard · Create the Hero, checked Sep 28, 2026. Confirmed.

Human

Will to Survive removes Stuns, Perception detects Stealth for 20 seconds, and The Human Spirit adds 5% Spirit in Blizzard's September 22 list. Dwarf

Stoneform grants immunity to Bleeds, Poisons and Diseases and reduces Physical damage for 8 seconds in Blizzard's September 22 list. The October 15 notes replace Mace Specialization with Earth Fury, 2% increased critical damage and healing, and add a chance for Find Treasure to find additional items in most chests. Big Game Hunter retains its published 5% damage against Beasts. Undead (Forsaken)

An Undead Paladin's Cannibalize now restores Mana. Will of the Forsaken removes Charm, Fear and Sleep, but no longer grants immunity afterward. Cannibalize now restores 35% Health and Mana over time from a corpse, and the recap names Paladins among the mana users it was changed for. Since the October 1 beta build, it can't be used while the caster is immune to Physical damage. Touch of the Grave sometimes drains health when you attack. The Forsaken race guide has the rest.
