The Four Troll Racials, in Blizzard's Own Words
Trolls get two actives, Berserking and Rapid Regeneration, and two passives, Beast Slaying and Regeneration, like every race. Blizzard's Create the Hero article lists them, and every quote below is Blizzard's exact wording from that article. The racials hub lines up all 40 Forever racials by race.

Berserking and Rapid Regeneration
Berserking is now a flat bonus that helps casters and melee alike. It reads "Increases casting and attack speed by 10% for 10 seconds."Blizzard: Create the Hero.
In Classic Era it scaled from 10% to 30% with how hurt you were, so Forever trades the low-health spike for the flat bonus.
Rapid Regeneration is new: "Regenerate 50% of maximum Health over time."Blizzard: Create the Hero.
Blizzard gives no cooldown or duration for it. The beta client lists both, as the next section shows.
Beast Slaying and Regeneration
Beast Slaying pays off against wolves, cats, and boars while questing and does nothing against humanoids or undead. It reads "Damage to Beasts increased by 5%,"
the same value as in Classic Era.Blizzard: Create the Hero.
Blizzard's September 22 list read "10% of Health regeneration continues during combat." The October 15 notes raise Regeneration's Health regeneration bonuses to 20%, from 10%. This later official wording supersedes the older 10% comparison.Sources: Blizzard, September 22 racial list for unchanged baseline effects; October 15 beta development notes, post 6, for the stated changes; retained capture Oct 18, 2026. Official wording; realm behavior not tested.
What the Beta Client Adds to the Racials
The beta client fills in the racials' cooldowns and durations, but treat those numbers as reported until Blizzard publishes them. The installed client (build 1.60.1.70009) carries its own tooltips and timers for the racials, and that data is datamined. Wowhead's Forever database shows the same cooldowns and durations.Source: Wowhead Forever: Rapid Regeneration and Wowhead Forever: Berserking, checked Sep 28, 2026.
Rapid Regeneration Is a Resting Tool, Not a Combat Heal
Use Rapid Regeneration between pulls to skip eating, not mid-fight. It heals 10% of maximum health every 1.2 seconds for 6 seconds, on a 3-minute cooldown. Its client tooltip adds: "Any movement, action, or damage taken will cancel the effect."
Berserking and Regeneration Timers
Berserking's published September 22 text gives a 10-second duration; the older client read reports its 3-minute cooldown. For Regeneration, use the later official October 15 note: Health regeneration bonuses increased to 20%, from 10%. That note supersedes the older client's 10% comparison.Sources: Blizzard, September 22 racial list for unchanged baseline effects; October 15 beta development notes, post 6, for the stated changes; retained capture Oct 18, 2026. Official wording; realm behavior not tested.
The Classic Era client also gave Trolls Bow Specialization and Throwing Specialization, each worth 5 weapon skill. Neither appears among the beta's Troll racials.
Which Classes Get the Most From These Racials
Two creators' demo-build reads favor Troll for a Shaman tank and for Warrior. Blizzard hasn't ranked any race for any class, so this section is community theorycraft. On a pre-launch demo build, Dungeon Coach Gaming called Troll the strongest hybrid race for a Shaman tank, pairing Berserking with Rockbiter threat and reading Rapid Regeneration as a usable active heal.Source: WoW Forever Shaman Tank Talents, Race, Abilities, Dungeon Coach Gaming, checked Sep 28, 2026. The client tooltip above contradicts that last point: damage taken cancels the heal.
Cajato reached a similar read for Warrior, pairing Berserking with Rapid Regeneration and calling Regeneration's in-combat ticking a steady bonus for melee.Source: WoW Forever Warrior: Every Talent, Classic Changes & Racials, Cajato, checked Sep 28, 2026. Both reads come from demo-build calculators. The Shaman class guide covers the tank spec itself.
Troll Hunters
A Troll Hunter gets a burst for its shots and extra damage on questing beasts. Wowhead's Forever entry for Berserking lists melee attack speed, ranged attack speed, and spell haste, so the burst covers a Hunter's shots. Add Beast Slaying and a Troll Hunter gets extra damage on the beasts that fill early questing zones. Dwarves have the matching Alliance passive, Big Game Hunter. The Hunter leveling guide compares Hunter racials across both factions.
Troll Warlock: The Newest Pairing
Troll Warlock is confirmed and in the beta client, but neither Blizzard article names a racial synergy or recommended build for it.
Blizzard's Deep Dive recap named Troll Warlock among six new class and race combinations, with Gnome Priest, Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman, Orc Mage, and Undead Paladin. The September 22 Horde table confirmed it, and the beta client's race and class rows match. Neither article names a racial synergy or a recommended build.

Berserking's cast speed and Rapid Regeneration's out-of-combat heal both fit a Warlock who Life Taps between pulls, but that is our reading, not Blizzard guidance. Wowhead's Warlock calculator still mirrors Classic Era trees, so use the site's talent calculator, which tracks the beta client.Source: Warlock Forever Talent Calculator, Wowhead, checked Sep 28, 2026.
Troll's Classes Then and Now
Trolls keep all six of their Classic Era classes and add Warlock, for seven. In Classic Era, Trolls could be Warriors, Hunters, Rogues, Priests, Shamans, and Mages, and Blizzard's September 22 Horde table keeps all six. Paladin and Druid stay closed, and Blizzard has not said whether that will change. The class hub links each of the nine classes.
Seven classes ties Trolls with Humans for the widest choice of any race in Blizzard's tables. On the Horde side, Orcs and Undead reach six, Skyborne five, and Tauren four. If you want to try several classes on one race's racials, Troll is the Horde pick.
Troll Priests Keep Their Own Spells
In the beta client, Hex of Weakness and Shadowguard are still Priest spells limited to Trolls, as they were in Classic Era. Hex of Weakness lowers a target's melee attack power and the healing it receives, and Shadowguard strikes attackers with Shadow damage. That is datamined, and Blizzard's articles don't mention either spell.
Darkspear Islands: Not a Confirmed Troll Story
Darkspear Islands is a planned battleground with no confirmed Troll story. Blizzard's What's Next recap describes Darkspear Islands as a planned 15 versus 15 battleground off the coast of Kalimdor, "combining strategic control points with Arathi Basin-style flag captures and defense."Blizzard: What's Next panel recap.
The name echoes the Darkspear tribe, the Horde's playable trolls, but the recap ties no Troll storyline, quest chain, or faction to the map.

The Darkspear Islands battleground guide covers the announced format and what Blizzard hasn't published.
Leveling a Troll in WoW Forever
No beta note describes a changed Troll start, and Blizzard hasn't published a Troll-specific starting zone or route for Forever. In Classic Era, Trolls start in the Valley of Trials in Durotar alongside Orcs. The September 24 beta notes fix Durotar quests such as "Lost in the Shadows" rather than adding new ones.
Beast Slaying earns its keep here, since much of early Durotar and the Barrens is beasts. Zygor's Forever guides are planned for launch rather than the beta.Source: Zygor's Forever announcement, checked Sep 28, 2026. Neither Zygor nor RestedXP describes a Troll-specific route. To choose between the two, see the Zygor vs RestedXP comparison.
Zandalari Trolls and Other Unconfirmed Additions
Blizzard's Forever materials never mention Zandalari trolls. In every Blizzard source we checked, Skyborne is the only new playable race, and the only one gated behind the Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher. Trolls need no upgrade pack. The Skyborne race page covers that race.
No source names new Troll customization, such as tusks, skin tones, hairstyles, or voices. Blizzard says the racial updates give "each race a stronger sense of identity,"
which describes abilities, not the character creator.Blizzard: Create the Hero.
What Is Still Unknown
Official cooldowns, new Troll customization, starting content, and any Troll story remain unknown.
- Official cooldowns for Berserking and Rapid Regeneration.
- Whether the spring combinations are still planned.
- Whether either spring combination is Troll.
- Whether Trolls get new customization or voices.
- Whether Trolls get new starting content, quests, or race-specific lore.
- Whether Darkspear Islands has a Troll connection beyond its name.
For the Berserking and Rapid Regeneration cooldowns, Blizzard's text gives none, and the client values above are reported. For the spring combinations, the deleted image named neither race nor class. For Darkspear Islands, the recap gives no Troll story.
Troll leveling has no Blizzard route. RestedXP for WoW Forever sells class-specific routes that RestedXP says are not yet complete.Source: RestedXP Horde product page, checked Sep 28, 2026.
Troll FAQ
What classes can Trolls play in WoW Forever?
Seven: Hunter, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock and Warrior. Warlock is new, one of six new pairings in Blizzard's September 22 race and class tables.Source: Create the Hero You Want to Be in World of Warcraft: Forever, checked Oct 5, 2026.
What are the Troll racials in WoW Forever?
Berserking, Rapid Regeneration, Beast Slaying and Regeneration are the four published Troll racial names. The October 15 notes raise Regeneration's Health regeneration bonuses to 20%, from 10%; the September 22 10% figure is historical. Berserking's 10-second duration comes from Blizzard's September 22 wording, not an inferred client duration join.Sources: Blizzard, September 22 racial list for unchanged baseline effects; October 15 beta development notes, post 6, for the stated changes; retained capture Oct 18, 2026.
