WoW Forever Roadmap
Every announced date on your clock, Blizzard's roadmap graphic card by card, and where sources disagree.
Launch is November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST, and raids unlock December 9. Older beta end-date sources say October 21 or October 22; the October 21 stress-test announcement separately says the beta will reopen after the test.

The Roadmap Image, Card by Card
Blizzard's verified @Warcraft account posted the WoW: Forever roadmap at 20:00 UTC on September 12, 2026, then deleted the post. Blizzard's What's Next Panel Recap carries the same graphic, with one line changed in the Spring card. It's a plan, not proof that any of it is live, and its footer reads "CONTENT AND TIMING SUBJECT TO CHANGE."Blizzard: World of Warcraft: Forever What's Next Panel Recap, checked Sep 25, 2026.
| Card | What the card lists | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Beta | "SEPT 17 - OCT 22"and "PLAY UP TO LEVEL 30"Blizzard: World of Warcraft: Forever What's Next Panel Recap, checked Sep 25, 2026. | Live since September 17. Cap raised from 20 to 30 on October 1Confirmed, a first-party source. End date planned; Blizzard's text pages say October 21 |

| Hardcore | A winter card for the World of Warcraft Forever Hardcore launch | Planned; no date or year printed |
| Spring major updates | Two new raids (10 and 20 player), two new dungeons, new quests and a playable area, a new legendary questline, a PvP season refresh | Planned; the deleted first image had two class and race combinations instead of the questline |
| Summer major updates | A "REVAMPED ICONIC RAID", a new raid, expanded world content, two new dungeons, a PvP season refresh, professions and legacy updatesBlizzard: World of Warcraft: Forever What's Next Panel Recap, checked Sep 25, 2026. | Planned |

The image's 2026 and 2027 header gives the years. The October and November cards print none, and Blizzard's pages say 2026. No opening or shutdown hour is published for the beta. The beta reference covers access, install, and name-reservation details, and the release-date report keeps the chronology.
On This Page
Classic players spent 2019 and 2020 planning around content phases, so a dated roadmap feels familiar. The timeline keeps those statements distinct.
Where Sources Disagree
| Point | One source | The other | How this page shows it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beta end | Blizzard's text pages, and the beta launch article: October 21, "the last full day of testing"Blizzard: The World of Warcraft: Forever Beta Now Live, checked Sep 25, 2026. | The roadmap image: October 22 | Both dates on the beta row |
| Raid unlock | The deleted @Warcraft post text: "Early December" | The image and the What's Next Panel Recap: December 9 | December 9 |
| Raid count | The Opening Ceremony recap: two new raids | The December 9 card: three named raids, including Onyxia's Lair | Onyxia's status and staging stay open |
| Hardcore timing | The image: a winter card with no date | Community write-ups split between winter 2026 and early 2027 | Winter, no date |
| Spring card | The deleted first @Warcraft image: two new class and race combinations | Blizzard's current graphic: a new legendary questline, as Icy Veins reported | The current graphic; the combinations are unverified |
The recap confirms the December 9 date and the first two raids. The roadmap itself gives no beta zone or instance roster, phase schedule, or wipe and carryover rule. Blizzard's October 1 beta notes do name the beta's dungeons: Excavation Site: Wetlands (26-31) is new, and Razorfen Downs (25+) and Uldaman (30+) now open, on top of eleven dungeons already available. Those October 1 notes give no phase schedule or wipe rule.Source: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes, October 1, Changes and Updates, checked Oct 1, 2026.
Blizzard’s updated stress-test announcement schedules a temporary beta shutdown on October 21, a few hours on production realms, a complete wipe of stress-test characters and names, and then reopening the beta. That sequence is distinct from the older October 21 text versus October 22 image end-date conflict; it does not establish a final beta shutdown date.
On September 14, 2026, the official World of Warcraft YouTube channel posted a BlizzCon Day 2 recap Short whose burned-in subtitles read “Hardcore will be coming to … to WoW: Forever”
at 00:00:11.5 to 00:00:14.5.Blizzard: BlizzCon Day 2 recap Short, checked Sep 25, 2026. That confirms Hardcore as an announced feature but gives no date or rules. Our Hardcore ruleset page collects everything Blizzard has written about the ruleset, including the enclosed-ecosystem wording and the death-transfer rule.
Progression Cadence and Power-Creep Analysis
In community analysis, Khalma reads the roadmap's horizontal progression model as leaning on balance passes, set bonuses, and trinkets to refresh class gameplay across phases, instead of endless stat increases. He notes that power creep will eventually be hard to prevent. He also expects a slow release cadence that leaves plenty of time for alts between raid releases. This is one player's analysis, not official Blizzard scheduling.
Preparing for Each Roadmap Date
Each card on the roadmap is also a deadline. Here's what each date asks of you, and which purchase, if any, it takes.
Beta: September 17 Start; End-Date Sources Differ
Guaranteed beta access comes with the Skyborne Epic Pack, the Warcraft Forever Collection, or the physical Collector's Edition.Source: World of Warcraft Alpha or Beta Access, checked Sep 28, 2026. The Heroic Pack does not include beta. You can also opt in for free, but Blizzard says signup alone does not guarantee an invite.

The cap started at level 20, and Blizzard said it "will be raised to 30 later in the beta."Blizzard: The World of Warcraft: Forever Beta Now Live, checked Sep 28, 2026.
Blizzard raised it to 30 with the October 1 update, as a September 30 forum post said it would.Confirmed, a first-party sourceSource: Blizzard forums: Beta Update Maintenance - October 1, checked Oct 1, 2026. Use the time to try a race and class combination, and check the class changes tracker to see what the September 24 build changed.
Invite Codes: October 20
Invite-A-Friend Launch Codes arrive by email from October 20. The Heroic Pack includes one code; the Epic Pack and Collection include three. A friend who redeems one can play during launch week, November 4 through 11, "without a subscription or game time."
The codes do not include beta access.Blizzard: Pre-Purchase World of Warcraft: Forever Upgrades, checked Sep 28, 2026.
Name Reservation: October 27 Through November 3
Early Name Reservation comes "included with any upgrade purchase,"
so the Heroic Pack qualifies even without beta. You can create and customize up to three characters. Names go first come, first served, and "Desired names cannot be guaranteed."Blizzard: Pre-Purchase World of Warcraft: Forever Upgrades, checked Sep 28, 2026.
Reserve the character you plan to level first; the leveling guide and RestedXP's Forever routes help you plan it.
Launch: November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST
At launch, access "will be included with your World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time."
You don't need an upgrade to play.Blizzard: Pre-Purchase World of Warcraft: Forever Upgrades, checked Sep 28, 2026. The Epic Pack and Collection add 30 days of Game Time starting November 4; after that you need a subscription or more Game Time. The launch countdown shows the time left in your own time zone.

Raids: December 9
The card names Barrow Deeps for 10 players, Hyjal Summit for 20, and Onyxia's Lair for 40, five weeks after launch.Source: What's Next Panel Recap, checked Sep 28, 2026. Those five weeks are your window to reach 60 and gear up. The raids guide and dungeons guide track each instance.
Collection Offer Ends: January 11, 2027
The Warcraft Forever Collection is a limited-time bundle, available through January 11, 2027.Source: Pre-Purchase World of Warcraft: Forever Upgrades, checked Sep 28, 2026. It is the only upgrade that adds Warcraft III: Reforged and the Forsaken Kingdom campaign, the story of the first Forsaken Paladin. After that date, the listed upgrades are the Heroic and Epic packs. You can compare the three upgrades side by side before it closes.

What the Roadmap Does Not Settle
Beta Characters and Launch
Blizzard's beta support page and beta post give no wipe or carryover rule for beta characters.Source: World of Warcraft Alpha or Beta Access, checked Sep 28, 2026. Plan as if your launch character starts fresh. Name reservation is different: Blizzard describes it as creating your characters "before launch."
Onyxia's Lair and the Dungeon Count
Onyxia's Lair shares its name with a Classic Era raid. Blizzard has not said whether Forever reuses that encounter or rebuilds it, so the two-versus-three raid count above stays open too. The Legacy System article does list "Defeat Onyxia"
as a Legacy Challenge.Blizzard: Get to Know the World of Warcraft: Forever Legacy System, checked Sep 28, 2026.
Launch brings nine new dungeons, and the Spring and Summer 2027 cards add two each.Source: Everything Announced at BlizzCon 2026 Opening Ceremony, checked Sep 28, 2026. That would make 13 new dungeons by the end of Summer 2027, if every card ships as drawn. Blizzard has not published that total or named the later dungeons.
Patch Notes Between Now and December
The October 8 beta development notes in the same thread open the City of Dalaran dungeon, grant every tester the Legacy Challenge and adjust all nine classes.Confirmed for that beta buildSource: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes, October 8, checked Oct 11, 2026. The October 1 notes, posted in the same thread, cover changes to all nine classes plus dungeons, quests, PvP Honor and professions.Source: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes, October 1, checked Oct 1, 2026. The September 24 notes covered the build before those.Source: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes (Updated September 24), checked Sep 28, 2026. Blizzard hasn't published a schedule for a pre-patch or the raid unlock patch. Until an implementation post appears, treat the Hardcore, Spring, and Summer cards as plans.

The roadmap image says October 22. Both stay on the page as an unresolved older end-date conflict.
What announced milestones and raid unlocks has Blizzard published?
The first raid unlock is December 9, 2026. Cards for winter Hardcore, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 follow. Later dates and Onyxia's placement aren't established.

No. It uses Spring 2027 and Summer 2027 and mentions a PvP season refresh, not numbered Season 2, 3, or 4.
Where are the roadmap patch notes?
Blizzard posts beta development notes on its forums. The October 8 beta notes summary covers the October 8 notes; Blizzard’s October 15 update follows them, and the October 1 beta notes summary and September 24 beta notes summary cover the builds before.
