WoW Forever Quests: What's New?

Beta quest fixes, planned new areas, the Riverglades count conflict, and the reported shift toward dungeon quest XP.

Checked 5 facts, 3 from Blizzard

WoW Forever adds named quest fixes to the beta and plans new quest stories across new and existing areas.

Quick answer

Confirmed beta fixes are already named; Blizzard plans over 1,000 quests overall and new quest areas.

  • Beta quest changesBlizzard's September 24 notes list quest fixes in several zones, including a Teldrassil objective change and Zephras Isle fixes.
  • Overall quest countBlizzard's product page advertises over 1,000 new quests.
  • Riverglades, earlier figureThe September 12 recap says more than 150 new quests across much of the mid-30s to mid-40s experience.
  • Riverglades, later figureThe September 13 recap says nearly 200 quests for Horde and Alliance.
  • Dungeon XPA developer interview says dungeon monster-kill XP went down while dungeon quest XP went up substantially.

Next: Plan a zone route

Blizzard's Riverglades totals still conflict, so the page separates beta changes from announced content.

The planned region count is also unsettled. Blizzard's opening ceremony article says three new zones, while its same-day panel recap names four regions: Zephras Isle, Riverglades, Shen'dralas, and Mount Hyjal. Opening ceremony, What's Next recap.

What quest changes are in the beta?

Blizzard's September 24 beta notes record corrections to existing quests as well as changes to the new Skyborne start. They are updates to the described beta build, not a launch-wide quest list.

  • Several dungeon quests that could be shared to give the receiving player a quest item were fixed.
  • In Teldrassil, Bounty: Gnarlpine Furbolg now asks for 15 kills instead of 20.
  • On Zephras Isle, Catching Wind was redesigned for High Order Skyborne, and spawns changed at the Overlook Standing Stones in Shen'dar Highlands.
  • Wounds of Betrayal now grants credit when the Nightclaw Cavern druids are healed. A Firm Response no longer fails to grant credit.
  • Other notes cover respawn, loot, and objective fixes in Durotar, Dun Morogh, Elwynn Forest, Mulgore, Silverpine Forest, and Westfall.

How does dungeon quest XP change?

Principal Designer Kris Zierhut told The Sun that dungeon monster-kill XP was brought “way down” while dungeon quest XP became “much, much, much higher.” He also said the overall leveling curve stays the same. This is reported developer direction, not a published XP table.

The interview gives no per-quest multiplier or numeric comparison. It supports taking the quests as part of a dungeon run, but not calculating an exact XP route. Our dungeon XP guide keeps the interview separate from confirmed beta changes.

What the beta client shows about quests

Blizzard has not published a quest list, so we compared the installed beta client (build 1.60.1.70009) with the Classic Era client (build 1.15.9.69722). The client ships quest IDs and reward tables, not quest text or objectives. It shows how much was added, not what each quest asks you to do. All of it is reported client data and can change before launch.

Quest IDs against Classic Era

The beta's quest table lists 6,605 quest IDs. Era's lists 4,807. That leaves 1,800 IDs that exist only in the beta, while two Era IDs (91888 and 91889) are missing from it. Of the new IDs, 1,796 fall between 86,000 and 99,999, and the biggest clusters sit in the 94,000s and 96,000s.

Blizzard advertises over 1,000 new quests, and 1,800 new IDs is consistent with that. It is still not a quest count. An ID can be internal, unused, or a leftover from a shared database, so do not quote 1,800 as the total. The two sources agree on direction, not on a number.

New quest categories

The client's quest categories gain three names Era does not have: The High Order, Camping and Night Elf. The first matches the High Order Skyborne quest in Blizzard's beta notes. The second fits the Camping system, whose first campsite objects come from special NPCs or profession trainers.Source: Deep Dive panel recap, checked Sep 29, 2026.

The Night Elf category is unexplained: the client gives a name and nothing else. Treat all three as labels, not confirmed questlines. Our Camping guide covers what Blizzard has said about campsites.

What the client says about quest XP

The client's base quest XP table is identical to Era's, and the quest-XP multiplier is 1 in all 100 rows of its content tuning table. Those tables hold base values by quest level and difficulty step. If dungeon quests pay much more, as a developer says, the change most likely sits in server-side quest data that the client does not ship. That is our inference, not a Blizzard statement.

Quest rewards and group play

Grouped quest drops

Senior game designer Josh Greenfield said on X, on Sep 26, 2026, that quest drop rules are not changing, but quests now "more predictably round-robin quest items to people who are grouped."Source: GamesRadar+ on Greenfield's post, checked Sep 29, 2026. He described the aim as fewer cases where one player has most of the drops while another has almost none.

He also said the team is "still dialing in this system." This is a developer statement relayed by press, so we label it reported. It supports grouping for kill-count and drop quests in the beta, without promising equal progress on every quest.

Rewards

Blizzard's Deep Dive recap says quest rewards were updated to serve more classes and roles. Its examples are Mor'ladim's quest in Duskwood, which still offers a two-handed sword and now also a ring for spellcasters, and Hemet Nesingwary's quests in Stranglethorn, which add new options.Source: Deep Dive panel recap, checked Sep 29, 2026. (confirmed)

The September 24 beta notes add: "A number of quests have had their rewards updated to be the correct item level." They also mention a small number of early caster reward adjustments. Neither line names quests. Check the tooltip before you swap a reward in the beta, because item levels were still being corrected.

Dungeon quests

The beta notes fix a sharing exploit: several dungeon quests could be shared, which handed the receiving player a quest item. A separate Blizzard short lists "nine dungeons, revamped dungeon quests, two raids" in its description, but names no quests.Source: Blizzard short, "Ready up and face new challenges across Azeroth", checked Sep 29, 2026. Our dungeon guide lists the nine dungeons and their level brackets.

What you can test in the beta now

Level cap and open content

Blizzard opened the beta with a level cap of 20, to be raised to 30 later. Week 1 listed Skyborne and Zephras Isle, Hall of Thanes (levels 13 to 18), Ruins of Lordaeron (levels 15 to 20) and all zone content up to level 20.Source: The World of Warcraft: Forever Beta Now Live, checked Sep 29, 2026. (confirmed)

That means the Riverglades band, mid-30s to mid-40s, cannot be tested until the cap rises well past 30. A developer said in an interview that levels 30 to 60 will not be in the beta.Source: Destin interview with Blizzard developers, about 10:13 to 10:27, checked Sep 29, 2026. Blizzard has said more zones will open as the beta continues, without dates.

Zephras Isle and starting zones

Zephras Isle is the level 1 to 12 Skyborne start. Horde-aligned Windshaper Skyborne and Alliance-aligned High Order Skyborne both begin there, and the starting questline requires the Heroic Pack or higher.Source: WoW: Forever Meet the New Skyborne, checked Sep 29, 2026. Our Zephras Isle guide tracks the three quests named so far.

Blizzard also says starting areas such as the Valley of Trials and Shadowglen gain NPCs, quests, profession hooks and recipes that sit alongside the original quests.Source: Found Photos panel recap, checked Sep 29, 2026. It gives no quest names. Our starting zones guide keeps the Classic baselines apart from these additions.

Reaching the new quest hubs

Ship routes

Blizzard's Found Photos recap names three new sea routes. Stormwind Harbor to Auberdine gives an early link between the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. A second set connects Menethil, Southshore and Auberdine. The third begins with the Steamwheedle Cartel in Tanaris and points toward the Riverglades. (planned)

The recap says the Riverglades is roughly the size of Stranglethorn Vale, built from a previously inaccessible part of the Classic world. Its port is Powderfuse Port. The beta client already lists Riverglades and Powderfuse Port as map areas on the Eastern Kingdoms continent, so the zone exists in the files even though it is not open for testing.

Shen'dralas and Mount Hyjal

Blizzard describes Shen'dralas two ways. The What's Next recap puts its mystery between Mulgore and Desolace. The Found Photos recap places it south of Desolace through the Valley of Bones. Our read is that both describe one area. Neither gives a level range. The client lists Shen'dralas as an area on the Kalimdor continent.

Mount Hyjal covers the aftermath of the Battle for Mount Hyjal, with emerging factions to meet and alliances to form. The Mount Hyjal guide covers what is known about the zone.

Forsaken Paladin quests

A smaller quest thread targets Forsaken Paladins. Their journey is set around Bandarion Keep in the Whispering Wood of Tirisfal Glades, and at level 60 they get their own epic mount quest, which Blizzard frames as Retribution to the Alliance charger's Redemption. (planned) The client lists Bandarion Keep as an area under Tirisfal Glades.

Quest helpers and leveling guides

Questie and community claims

Questie's release notes for bundle v12.0.1+v1.0.3, published Sep 25, 2026, add Forever client support. Our RestedXP and Questie comparison separates what each addon does. A community summary on r/classicwow also claims a toggleable quest helper exists in Forever. Blizzard has not confirmed it, and we could not verify the post, so treat that as an unconfirmed report.Source: r/classicwow feature summary, retrieved Sep 12, 2026.

Route guides and timing

RestedXP says its Discovery feature will favor new Forever quests and zones over pure speed, and that Forever routes for levels 35 to 60 arrive after launch. Those are vendor plans, not delivered features. Zygor says it "may be limited in what we'll be able to cover initially" because of beta level limits.Source: Zygor's Forever announcement, checked Sep 29, 2026. See the Zygor Guides overview for its plans.

Not announced or unresolved

  • The cited recaps do not explain the Riverglades totals.
  • No level range appears for Shen'dralas or Mount Hyjal.
  • The cited product page gives no area breakdown.
  • The cited interview gives no numeric dungeon XP values.

These are limits in the named sources, not a claim that no other quest listing or client evidence exists.

WoW Forever quests FAQ

How many new quests does WoW Forever add?

Blizzard's product page advertises over 1,000 new quests. It does not break that overall number down by area.

How many quests are in Riverglades?

There is no single resolved figure. The two official recaps disagree, and Blizzard has not explained whether their scopes differ. The Key facts above preserve both numbers.

Which new quest areas are in the beta?

The September 24 notes list quest changes on Zephras Isle. They also list quest fixes in existing zones. The other areas in the table are presented as planned content in Blizzard's recaps.

Is dungeon quest XP confirmed?

The change is reported from a developer interview: monster-kill XP goes down and quest XP goes up. The interview provides no numeric multiplier, so treat it as direction rather than a calculation.

Can I group on kill-count quests without losing drops?

A developer says quest items now rotate more predictably among grouped players, and the system is still being tuned. Base drop rates are not changing. It reduces lopsided drops without guaranteeing that everyone finishes together.

Can I test the Riverglades quests in the beta?

Not yet. The beta cap started at 20 and rises to 30 later, while the Riverglades covers much of the mid-30s to mid-40s. The client lists the zone's map areas, but no source says it opens for testing.

Every row carries its evidence tier: Confirmed, Planned, Reported, Unverified or Not announced. Where sources disagree, both stay on the page. How we verify
