TL;DR

Pick a beta-listed dungeon, use its published level band as a planning clue, and confirm the route, meeting point, preparation, and pace with your group.

On This Page

A first run is mostly a coordination job: choose an instance with a published level band that fits your plans, find a group, agree where to meet, then check your own quest log afterward. Blizzard's October 1 beta notes list Ragefire Chasm and Hall of Thanes among the dungeons already available at that time. That dated list does not establish your character's personal entry eligibility today.

Choose a Dungeon and Check Its Route

These two low-level examples have published or reported level bands, not universal access guarantees. Pick the route that makes sense for your character and group; neither is the first dungeon for everyone.

ExamplePublished or reported bandEntrance reference
Hall of ThanesBlizzard's launch article lists levels 13–18.Community route reports start at the Great Forge and continue through the High Seat into Old Ironforge.
Ragefire ChasmMMonster reports levels 13–18.MMonster places the entrance in Orgrimmar's Cleft of Shadow.

Use the Hall of Thanes guide or Ragefire Chasm guide for the instance's route and current quest notes. The Hall route comes from community guide reporting; Ragefire's bracket and location come from a third-party guide. Read either as a route reference, not a Blizzard eligibility rule. The October 1 roster is a dated beta announcement, so check current official notes before making a current availability claim.

Form the Group Before You Travel

The Group Finder guide owns the listing interface walkthrough. Its cited beta footage and reports describe a listing-and-invitation workflow; they do not establish automatic queueing, teleporting, or summons. When you list or answer, name the instance, your role, your approximate level, and a meeting point. Ask where the group plans to gather and who is traveling. Leave only after the plan is clear.

A meeting point can be a city or the instance entrance; choose one with your group rather than assume the interface moves everyone. If someone changes the destination or route, pause and confirm the new plan. Those short checks prevent a beginner from arriving alone or in the wrong place without pretending there is one required command or channel.

Prepare Without Inventing Requirements

Before leaving, read the instance guide for its route and any quest notes. Quest eligibility can depend on details not established by the older captured quest lists, so check your own quest log and do not assume every quest is available to every character. The Consumables guide records item effects and requirements, but this page has no required first-run item, gear threshold, or fixed group composition to recommend.

Tell the group if this is your first visit and ask what pace they prefer. Crix Forever's beta footage shows a five-player party frame and party chat inside Hall of Thanes at 4:11; it makes the group setting concrete but does not show proof of a completed run. A beta player also described drink pauses when their tank took heavy damage. Treat that as one player's report, not a universal rule: say when you need a short pause and let the group decide together.

If Someone Dies, Regroup First

If you die, follow the current prompt and regroup before the party moves on. The Death Recovery guide separates reported corpse returns and resurrection offers from details that remain unverified. Do not accept a cost or route on somebody else's assumption; read what your client actually presents and tell the group where you are.

Finish the Run Deliberately

Before leaving the instance, check your quest log and confirm whether the group plans another stop. A guide's quest list is a planning reference, not proof that your character accepted or completed each objective. If you did not finish what you came for, note the remaining step and ask before the group splits. Keep loot questions in the separate, source-backed loot guide rather than letting first-run logistics turn into an unsupported allocation promise.
