Kaivax announced it on October 1 so testers can try the system without grinding alts and dungeons. Sixteen is the launch spending cap per character.

Every WoW Forever beta tester will get 16 free Legacy points in a future week of the test. Community manager Kaivax announced the grant on October 1, 2026, so testers can try the Legacy System without first leveling several classes and clearing dungeons. Blizzard expects to keep the grant until the beta ends.

Sixteen is not a random number. It matches the 16 points each character can spend at launch, so testers get a full launch-sized budget to spend.

What Blizzard said

Kaivax posted Legacy Points for Beta Testing at 21:54 UTC. Blizzard has seen "an increasing number of testers pushing to earn points in the Legacy system" over the first two weeks of the beta. The grant lets testers try the system without leveling several classes or clearing dungeons first.

What 16 points means

The Legacy System awards one account-wide point per challenge, 65 challenges in all, and each character spends points in three seven-perk trees: Professions, Adventure, and Resourcefulness. At launch a character can spend 16 points. The beta grant hands testers that full launch budget at once.

So far, beta players had to earn points the slow way. Legacy usually opens at level 25, and the beta cap only rose to 30 on October 1. The grant removes that grind for testing.

If you are in the beta, plan your 16 points before the grant lands. The Legacy guide lists every perk tree and the cheapest ways to reach 16 on one character.

What Blizzard has not said

  • Which week the grant arrives
  • Whether granted or earned beta points carry to launch
  • Whether the 16-point spending cap changes for launch
  • Whether the beta panel's known Lua errors are fixed
