It also fixes party XP and Rage, gives every tester the Legacy Challenge, and tunes eight of the nine classes.
Blizzard posted the October 8 beta development notes at 21:32 UTC, after maintenance that began at 9 a.m. PDT. The build opens the City of Dalaran dungeon, raises dungeon kill experience by about 20%, and fixes how party XP and Rage are calculated. Eight of the nine classes get tuning; Rogue gets none.
Everything below is a beta change in the October 8 build, and Blizzard confirms it. It can still change before the November 4 launch. The October 1 patch notes cover the build before this one.

City of Dalaran and Dungeon XP
The October 8 notes put one line in bold: "Now available for testing: the new City of Dalaran dungeon."Blizzard: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes, October 8, checked Oct 9, 2026.
It is the levels 28 to 33 dungeon under the rebuilt mage city, and it was missing from the October 1 access list.
Our City of Dalaran guide covers the faction entrances, the Horde Sewer Key chain, bosses, and loot.
Experience from killing creatures in dungeons rises by about 20%. Blizzard also fixed party experience. Until this build, the kill penalty for low-level enemies used the highest-level member of your group. Now it uses your own level, as Classic Era did.
Blizzard, October 8 development notes
We believe the combination of these two changes will dramatically increase experience earned in dungeons for most players.
One rule stays: if anyone in the party is far above the enemy's level, nobody gets experience. Josh Greenfield explains why dungeons still won't beat questing in our podcast Episode 3 story. The dungeon XP page tracks every change build to build.
Rage Fixes for Warriors and Druids
Blizzard fixed three bugs in how Rage is earned from taking damage. The notes say "the typical Warrior or Druid should be gaining more Rage from taking damage."Blizzard: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes, October 8, Classes, checked Oct 9, 2026.
- Rage used your own health, not the creature's. Fixed.
- Crits and crushing blows now give their full extra Rage.
- Damage absorbs are ignored when Rage is calculated.
Rage was also balanced around Warriors with 50% armor, a tank value. Blizzard now balances it on 20% to 40% armor by level, which fits questing Warriors.
Looting, Pulls and Forsaken
The notes include two general fixes and one Forsaken-specific fix. Creatures that dropped no loot can be interacted with again, as in Classic. A bug that caused unintended long-distance pulls is fixed, which matters in dungeon groups. And Forsaken characters can again use Will of the Forsaken while asleep or charmed, a fix PvP players will feel.
See the Forsaken guide.
Class Changes
Druid
- Mana Potions work in Bear, Dire Bear and Cat Form.
- Crit Rage bonus: 100% more Rage (was 75%).
- base damage back to Vanilla; ratio 6% (was 13.3%).
- Cat Form no longer lowers your maximum health.
- Bear and Dire Bear threat bonus: 50% (was 30%).
- Demoralizing Roar now generates threat.
- Wrath ranks 1-5 rescaled; new ranks always upgrade.
- Feral: Predatory Instincts renamed Natural Instinct.
- Natural Instinct adds 12/25% of Intellect as healing.
- Feral: Shifting Power unusable at full Energy.
- Feral: Thick Hide now works when you swap gear shifted.
Fewer effects now override your form. Blizzard wants other players to see which form a Druid is in. Noggenfogger Elixir still transforms you, because it lets you breathe underwater.
Hunter
- Disengage threat reduction now doubled, as intended.
- Pets no longer regain health repeatedly when low.
- Beast Mastery: Unleashed Fury now raises pet damage.
- Marksmanship: Improved Concussive Shot proc chance fixed.
- Survival: Improved Wing Clip proc chance fixed.
- Survival: lasts 10 sec (was 5).
- Survival: Entrapment now has diminishing returns.
- Survival: Entrapment triggers only on Frost Trap's first activation.
Mage
- Frostbolt and Fireball ranks 1-5 rescaled.
- Arcane Missiles ranks 1-3 rescaled.
- Impact no longer procs from Flamestrike's periodic damage.

- Discipline: damage and healing reduced.
- Penance rank 1 mana cost up 50%.

- Flametongue Totem uses a shapeshifted target's attack speed.

Legacy, Cooldown Manager and Gamepad
Every beta player now has the Legacy Challenge completed, which awards 16 Legacy Points for testing. The cheapest Legacy talent respec costs 1 silver, and the price drops by one respec per hour; Blizzard says that rule is beta only. Our Legacy guide and Legacy planner explain the system.
The Cooldown Manager now supports all classes, racial abilities and trinkets. Consumables come in a later patch. Gamepad support gets edit mode for the Gamepad Action Bar and layouts saved per UI type. Your old Gamepad Action Bar options do not carry over: set them again in edit mode.
Items, PvP and Professions

- Attack power armor kits no longer double ranged attack power.
Sixteen Desolace rewards from the Gelkis and Magram chains, starting with "Valley of Bones," were retuned: most had power-level adjustments, while some had stat changes. A coming hotfix will make them require level 35, matching the quests. Swapping several weapons within one global cooldown works again, for example a macro from a two-hander to sword and board.
Quests and Interface
- Barbers in capital cities replaced with local barbers.
- Stitches is hostile again in Darkshire.
- Tirisfal: Shadowvale and Bandarion Keep levels raised.
- Desolace: "Valley of Bones" chain needs level 35 (was 30).

- Quest Log and Tracker show quest types as text.
- Quest Tracker shows level requirements.
- View Talents sits under Inspect in the target menu.
Blizzard's barber line reads: "We anticipate no fallout from this among the goblin cartels."
New Known Issues
- Some Skyborne Druid and Zephras Isle textures come later.
- Hunter Ferocity pet crit is a display bug only.
- Some Professions window icons look broken.
