October 15 Update
Blizzard's October 15 beta notes describe Destructive Reach as increasing the range of Destruction spells by 10%/20%. The notes do not specify the talent's row. They also replace Malediction with Grim Reach, adding 10%/20% range to Affliction spells, and change Shadow Mastery's Shadow spell-damage bonus to 2%/4%/6%/8%/10% from 1%/2%/3%/4%/5%. These are confirmed beta-note changes, not an independent gameplay check.

The October 7 deep dive had removed Grim Reach in favor of Malediction's 5% periodic-damage bonus. The October 15 notes reverse that talent replacement.Source: Blizzard's October 7 Rogue and Warlock deep dive, Warlock > Affliction; checked October 11, 2026.
Blizzard posted the Rogue and Warlock deep dive on October 7, the same day as the Mage and Shaman deep dive. Community manager Nethaera corrected the Rogue section on the forums within 90 minutes; the text below uses the corrected version.

Rogue: Baseline Changes

Sap no longer breaks Stealth. Blizzard wants Rogues to bring crowd control for groups whose monster count overwhelms the tank. The old Improved Sap talent becomes Dirty Tricks, which now cuts the Energy cost of Sap and Blind.
- Poisons gain charges on every poison.
- Poisons now stack with Sharpening Stones and Weightstones.
- Feint threat reduction is doubled.
- Distract lowers enemy Stealth detection for 10 seconds.
- Rogues can learn one-handed axes.
Expose Armor now matches five stacks of Sunder Armor at about the same level. It no longer blocks Sunder Armor, so a Warrior can still build threat with it. Sunder will not overwrite a stronger Expose Armor.Source: Blizzard, Rogue: Baseline Abilities, retrieved Oct 11, 2026.
Rogue Talents by Spec
| Spec | 16-point talent | 21-point talent | 31-point talent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assassination | Cold Blood (was 21) | (new) | Venom (new) |
| Combat | Flawless Execution (new) | Not in the notes | Not in the notes |
| Subtlety | Premeditation (was 31) | Not in the notes | (new) |
Assassination turns into a dagger and poison spec. Mutilate costs 60 Energy, needs a dagger in each hand and awards 2 Combo Points. Venom is a 25 Energy finisher that adds 30% poison damage and 10% poison application chance.
Blizzard expects Assassination finishers to go mostly to Venom and Slice and Dice, with Rupture and Eviscerate lower. Vigor drops to a 2-point row 5 talent with the same effect, and Improved Poisons now gives poisons a large chance not to use charges.
Combat folds Dagger, Mace, Sword and Fist Weapon Specialization into one row 5 talent, Hack and Slash. Axes get the Sword extra attack chance, and Maces now ignore some armor instead of stunning. Aggression and Puncturing Wounds, the old Improved Backstab, add Backstab support.
Nethaera's October 7 correction says Puncturing Wounds also increases Mutilate's critical-strike chance by a lesser percentage and gives Backstab a chance to grant an additional Combo Point. Flawless Execution cuts Eviscerate's Energy cost by 10.
Subtlety supports both a Sinister Strike build and a Backstab build. Quietus makes Sinister Strike, Ghostly Strike and Hemorrhage hit harder below 35% health, and Cutthroat can let your next Ambush skip .
Thousand Cuts lowers the cost of your next Hemorrhage or Backstab by 3 Energy each time Rupture ticks, stacking 5 times. now lasts 20 seconds.Source: Blizzard, Rogue Talents, Assassination, Combat and Subtlety, retrieved Oct 11, 2026.
Removed Rogue talents: the four weapon specializations, Sleight of Hand and Deadliness. Read the Rogue guide for the class overview, or the Rogue leveling guide for the 1 to 60 plan.
Warlock: Banes, Stones and Pets

Curse of Agony and Curse of Doom are now Banes. Only one Bane per Warlock can sit on a target, so a Bane and a utility curse can run together. Every effect that worked with Curses also works with Banes.
- Curse of the Elements now covers all magic damage.
- Curse of Shadows is removed.
- Life Tap now scales with Spirit.
- Drain Soul has a rising Soul Shard chance per tick.
- Pets now scale from the Warlock's stats.
Firestone and Spellstone now apply weapon imbues that stack with Wizard Oil. Firestone adds Fire damage and critical strike chance. Spellstone adds Shadow damage and spell haste.Source: Blizzard, Warlock: Baseline Abilities, retrieved Oct 11, 2026.
Warlock Talents by Spec in the October 7 Deep Dive
| Spec | 16-point talent | 21-point talent | 31-point talent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Affliction | Curse of Exhaustion (moved up) | Not in the notes | Wrack (new) |
| Demonology | Fel Domination | Soul Link (was 31) | (new) |
| Destruction | Conflagrate (was 31) | Bane of Havoc (new) | Incinerate (new) |
Affliction gets Wrack, a drain-style spell that deals Shadow damage every second and raises your other Shadow damage over time on the target by 10% for 6 seconds. Blizzard calls it the spec's main spell between DoT refreshes. Pandemic raises the critical strike damage bonus of your DoTs and drains by up to 100%.
Curse of Exhaustion now slows by 30%.
Demonology moves Demonic Sacrifice to the 11-point milestone and makes its effects last 2 hours. Demonic Pact keeps your sacrifice buff when you summon a different pet.
Blizzard says this lets Warlocks use Demonic Sacrifice and Master Demonologist together "for the first time." Decimation cuts Soul Fire's cooldown by up to 90%, and Shadow Bolt or Searing Pain on a target below 35% health makes Soul Fire faster and free of Soul Shards for 10 seconds.
Destruction gets Bane of Havoc. For 5 minutes, 15% of the damage you deal to other targets also hits the cursed target. Incinerate needs Bane of Havoc, casts in 2.5 seconds and deals 25% more damage to targets with Immolate.
The October 7 deep dive placed in row 1 and described it as covering all damaging spells.Source: Blizzard, Warlock Talents, Affliction, Demonology and Destruction, retrieved Oct 11, 2026.
The Warlock guide covers the class, and the talent calculator uses client build 1.60.1.70205, checked October 3, 2026; it is a dated tree reference rather than verification of the October 15 changes. For a new Warlock or Rogue, our RestedXP guide review covers the leveling add-on.
Talent Rules for Every Class
Talents start at level 10. The 11, 21 and 31-point milestones stay, and a 16-point milestone joins them. You change talents, including Legacy talents, at a class trainer in a major city. Dual Specialization unlocks at level 40.Source: Blizzard, Class Deep Dives: Rogue and Warlock, opening notes, retrieved Oct 11, 2026.
The same day, Blizzard also detailed PvP progression and Darkspear Islands.
