Blizzard Announces Horde Restrictions in Dalaran for WoW Forever

October 15 Update (Post Last Updated October 16)

The current text in Blizzard’s beta-development notes says Horde are no longer welcome in Dalaran and will be attacked on sight. The post was created October 16, 2026, at 00:15:23 UTC (October 15 at 8:15 p.m. EDT); the version checked October 18 was last edited October 16 UTC.

The same post says this does not affect access to the City of Dalaran dungeon, but finishing the Horde Sewer Key quest chain no longer lets players roam the outdoor city freely.

Blizzard opened the City of Dalaran dungeon in the October 8 beta build. Within hours, players found that Horde characters who finished the dungeon could walk the city.

How Players Reported Horde Access on October 8 and 9

Horde players on the Blizzard forums described the same thing. What Aggrend Said on October 8

Senior game designer Josh "Aggrend" Greenfield quoted Wowhead's post at 7:06 p.m. PDT on October 8:

[H]orde having full access to Dalaran isn't really intended. We'll take a look at this tomorrow and likely get some adjustments out.

These October 8 PDT / October 9 UTC statements are historical plans. The October 15 notes later announce the open-world restriction and separately report the reputation issue fixed; the earlier 'tomorrow' and 'next week' wording is not the current status.

Fix Status as of October 11

The October 11 version of this article reported no Blizzard confirmation of a fix at that check. This is historical source-check history; the October 15 update is the later announcement. Either way, beta reputation should not matter at launch. Developers said launch starts fresh at level 1, as our beta access explainer covers.

How Players Reacted

An October 11 player thread about a Horde equivalent to Dalaran records one part of the discussion. It is community reaction rather than evidence of game rules.
