You don't need any of them at launch, because a WoW Subscription or Game Time covers it, much like the regular sub covered Classic 2019.
In the September 12, 2026 US storefront checks, the Battle.net Shop lists three one-time digital World of Warcraft: Forever upgrades, and the Blizzard Gear Store lists a physical Collector's Edition for pre-order. Forever launches November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST. A WoW Subscription or Game Time grants access at launch. This page is the dated price report.
For the evergreen way to compare editions, use the WoW Forever editions guide.
Non-US prices: Not announced in the sources checked here. A separate Forever subscription or Game Time price: Not announced. Epic and Collection include 30 days of Game Time.
The three Battle.net products are one-time digital upgrades. They add the listed benefits to your account, but they don't replace the separate subscription or Game Time you need for ongoing play. Included in-game items are not available in WoW Classic. Modern WoW Housing decor requires Midnight, sold separately. The physical Collector's Edition's digital code is download-only, with no disc.
All digital content requires an internet connection, a Battle.net account, and the Battle.net desktop app. Blizzard's Collector's Edition announcement confirms it includes a Warcraft Forever Collection code. A later storefront check records the sold-out physical pre-order. Blizzard restocked it in English on September 24, now limited to one per household, with restock orders shipping February 2027.

Access Rules
Launch access. Your WoW Subscription or Game Time gets you into Forever starting November 4. Epic and Collection add 30 days of Game Time at launch. After that time ends, Blizzard requires a subscription or additional Game Time to keep playing. Heroic lists no included Game Time. The Game Time support article records the launch activation rule.

Beta access. Guaranteed beta access comes with the Skyborne Epic Pack, Warcraft Forever Collection, or physical Collector's Edition. Signing up alone doesn't guarantee access. Blizzard Support lists those paths.
Early Name Reservation. Any digital upgrade purchase includes the October 27 through November 3, 2026, PST window. It works only on the WoW account that made the purchase and allows up to three characters. Names go first-come, first-served, and a desired name isn't guaranteed. Battle.net's product requirements and Blizzard's pre-purchase announcement give the terms.
Invite-A-Friend codes. Heroic grants one code. Epic, Collection, and the Collector's Edition code grant three total. Since version 13, and in version 16 too, Support says Battle.net purchases get one individual email per code beginning October 20, 2026. Purchases made after October 20 should get the code(s) shortly after purchase.
The codes grant invited accounts Forever access from November 4 through November 11, 2026, PST without a subscription or Game Time. They don't grant Game Time, the Skyborne race, or the Zephras Isle starting experience. Gift purchases aren't eligible, and an account that already bought a Forever upgrade can't redeem one. Blizzard Support lists the restrictions.
The same Support update says the three physical Collector's Edition codes are in addition to three already obtained from a digital purchase, for a stated total of six. That article also lists Heroic as one code, so it doesn't settle whether a Heroic-to-Collector's-Edition combination totals four or six. Treat that edge case as unresolved.
Current monetization intent. In a September 14 GamesRadar report on an interview with Blizzard associate production director Clayton Stone, Stone said Blizzard has “no plans for anything like a WoW token or a boost” in an online shop and emphasized the level 1 to 60 journey. This is current design intent, not a permanent guarantee about future monetization.
Two First-Party Conflicts
Blizzard's own sources disagree on two details, the Collection's Warcraft III title and the beta's end date, and neither conflict is resolved.
The Battle.net listing and Blizzard's pre-purchase article call the Collection's RTS entitlement Warcraft III: Reforged and the Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom campaign. The official Collection trailer description says "Warcraft II Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom".Blizzard: Warcraft Forever Collection Trailer, checked Sep 12, 2026.
That wording conflict remains unresolved, so this article follows the product page and announcement for the listed entitlement.

The product page and pre-purchase text say the beta is available through October 21, 2026, PST. The official roadmap graphic says October 22. Blizzard hasn't resolved the one-day difference, and the WoW Forever beta reference shows both dates.
Activating Beta Access From Each Edition
No code for a digital upgrade. Buy the Skyborne Epic Pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection and Blizzard flags your account for beta automatically, with no code to redeem. The same goes for an account selected after signing up on the official beta page, according to Blizzard Support's beta access article.
The article also says you don't need Game Time to take part in the beta, but you do need beta access.
A code for the physical Collector's Edition. Beta access for the Collector's Edition arrives as a code emailed to the address on your Gear Store order, and you must redeem it on your account. Customer Support can't replace a lost code or help with one redeemed on the wrong account, and it can't grant beta access at all.
Signing up. The sign-up page is only available while testing is active or shortly before it starts, and signing up doesn't guarantee access.
Installing the client. A flagged account can install the beta through the Battle.net App once testing begins. If the option is missing, Blizzard says to close the app, restart it and check that you are logged in with the correct account.
Support offers no technical help with the beta client, and the client "may be offline at any moment."Blizzard: World of Warcraft Alpha or Beta Access, checked Sep 14, 2026.
If access never shows up. For a Battle.net order, check Battle.net Transaction History: only an order marked Complete gets beta access, and failed orders get none. If the upgrade was a gift, Blizzard says to talk to the friend who sent it. Blizzard also revokes beta access for Code of Conduct violations.
The WoW Forever beta access guide covers the sign-up route.
How Invite-a-Friend Codes Add Up Across an Upgrade
Upgrading from Heroic. Moving from Skyborne Heroic to Epic, or from Heroic to the Collection, grants two more codes, for three in total. Moving from Epic to the Collection grants none. Both rules come from Blizzard Support's Invite-A-Friend article, version 16, updated September 18, 2026, which covers upgrades as well as direct purchases.

Adding the Collector's Edition afterward. Buying the physical Collector's Edition after a digital upgrade adds its three codes to the three from the digital purchase, for six. Legends, which fulfills Gear Store orders, emails the Collector's Edition's Invite-A-Friend codes together with its beta code. The Collector's Edition guide covers the box itself.
Redeeming a code. Each code works on a single World of Warcraft account, on Battle.net or in the Battle.net App, until November 11, 2026. After that, redeeming returns an error. If the order behind a code is refunded or charged back, the code is deactivated.
Invite-A-Friend codes also don't grant beta access, so a friend's code-based access starts at launch on November 4.
Lost or misused codes. Support can't replace a misplaced code, one redeemed on another account, or one claimed on the wrong account. Each time, its answer is that a regular World of Warcraft subscription already grants access to Forever.
One regional exclusion. Collector's Editions bought from local retailers in Korea, Australia or New Zealand carry no Invite-A-Friend codes.
