The new Darkspear Islands battleground combines base control with flag deliveries for players at levels 30 through 60.

Blizzard published separate PvP progression and Darkspear Islands previews on October 7. They explain the systems without identifying a new beta activation date.

Honor Buys Gear; Rank Points Advance Ranks

Honor comes from PvP activities including defeating players, completing battlegrounds, and relevant PvP quests. Players earn increased Honor in the highlighted battleground during its holiday week. Blizzard says it reviewed battleground earnings to make acquisition more consistent and reduce the pressure to choose Alterac Valley solely for efficiency.

Rank Points come from activities including battlegrounds and relevant PvP quests, with an additional holiday-week boost. They advance players through the familiar ranks toward High Warlord or Grand Marshal. Blizzard says ranks have a weekly cap.

Its accompanying interface image says the Rank Points cap increases each week, up to 24,750 for rank 14; the article does not provide the intervening weekly schedule.Source: Blizzard, Progressing Through the Ranks and accompanying PvP interface image

Blue Gear, Epic Upgrades, and Reward Ranks

Honor purchases both blue-quality and epic-quality PvP sets. An epic piece also requires the corresponding blue piece and an Emboldened Seal, with rank requirements to buy the seals. Blizzard also says it filled specialization gaps, giving healer, melee, and caster Shaman sets as an example.

The published reward ladder puts the PvP trinket at rank 2, the Battle Standard at rank 7, mounts at rank 11, and epic weapons at rank 14. Armor upgrade tokens unlock as follows:

RankEpic armor upgrade rewards
8Bracers and belt
9Boots
10Gloves
12Legs and shoulders
13Chest and helm

Those are the announced unlock ranks. The preview does not list Honor prices or a complete Rank Point threshold table.Source: Blizzard, Gearing Up for Battle

Seasonal Tasks Also Connect to Legacy

Each season has a journey with weekly tasks that award Honor and Rank Points. Three tasks per season also grant a Legacy Point. Blizzard says these tasks remain available in future seasons because they are part of the Legacy System.

That preserves an avenue to complete those tasks later. The announcement does not say all Honor, ranks, or rewards carry across seasons. Our Legacy guide explains the wider progression system.Source: Blizzard, PvP Seasons

Darkspear Islands: Hold Bases and Deliver the Flag

The battleground sits off Dustwallow Marsh and supports 15 players per team at levels 30 to 60. Holding more of its four capture points increases your team's point gain. Carrying the central flag to a base your team controls adds points. The first team to 2,000 wins.

Blizzard lists capital-city battlemasters as one queue option. It also describes faction bases in the Barrens: the Horde's Darkspear Raiders at Merchant Coast and the Alliance's Theramore Expeditionary Force at Northwatch, with portals into the battle.Source: Blizzard, Your Mission and Queue Up for Battle

Both factions have reputation rewards, including gear and consumables. Marks of Honor turn-ins support reputation quests, while Exalted unlocks a short questline for the faction's exclusive tabard. Read the PvP guide for the wider battleground overview.
