Hearthing to town with full bags and red gear is the Classic habit campfires go after. A Basic Campfire takes up to 3 crafted objects from nearby players.
Blizzard's verified @Warcraft account announced on September 13, 2026 that the new Campfire feature in World of Warcraft: Forever allows players to "unwind, repair, and share buffs."
Blizzard: World of Warcraft on X, checked Sep 13, 2026. The post, which carries a 25-second official video clip, confirms concrete open-world utility for the Camping system initially revealed during BlizzCon.
Following the broadcast, Blizzard's official Deep Dive Panel Recap detailed the complete mechanical structure of campsites, including the Basic Campfire, player-contributed profession objects, rested status, and 1-hour shared buffs. For broader gameplay context, see our WoW Forever Camping guide.

The Basic Campfire: Unwinding, Repairs, and Resting
Blizzard says a campfire lets you rest, repair, restock and share buffs without a trip back to town. On September 13, it said Camping in WoW Forever turns the traditional Cooking Fire into an active social rest stop:
- Unwind and Rested Status: Sit briefly for rested status.
- Field Repairs and Vendors: Fix gear without a town trip.
- Profession Workspaces: Advanced profession objects work as workspaces.
- 1-Hour Shared Buffs: Nearby adventurers get utility and stat buffs.
Sitting by the campfire for a few moments gives you rested status in the open world before you head back into adventure, a field alternative to town inns. Campfires give you access to repairs and vendors, so your party can fix equipment durability and restock basic supplies without a trip back to a distant settlement.
Advanced profession objects placed at the campfire work as dedicated workspaces, such as Alchemy Labs or Leatherworking Tanning Racks, so crafters can make specialized recipes right out in the wild. Gathering at the campfire gives nearby adventurers 1-hour utility and stat buffs, which encourages cooperative outdoor play.

Contributed Profession Objects and Dungeon Blueprints
Each player can add one crafted object to a campfire: you learn the first at profession skill 20, and more advanced ones come from dungeon Blueprint drops. Blizzard's Deep Dive panel recap explains how player professions work with the campsite:
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Object Capacity | A standard Basic Campfire holds up to three special crafted objects placed by nearby players. Each player can add one object, and those objects share a one-hour cooldown. |
| Skill Progression | Every crafting and gathering profession has three different campsite objects, learned at distinct skill tiers. You learn the first campsite objects at profession skill level 20, from profession trainers or special introduction NPCs. |
| Dungeon Blueprint Drops | More advanced campsite objects come from Blueprint recipes that drop from specific dungeon bosses. |
| Cooking Upgrades | Cooks get unique recipes for upgraded Campfires that support five or ten objects at once, making larger community gathering hubs. |
Blizzard's same-day tradeskill post adds the recipe volume and Cooking overhaul behind these objects.
Confirmed Profession Buff Examples and Stacking Rules
The September 13 recap describes some profession objects as adding buffs such as Attack Power (the Sharpening Wheel tooltip says Strength instead), Spirit or Intellect, and those buffs do not stack with class buffs. Blizzard provided examples of profession objects and said how they interact with standard class abilities:
- Blacksmithing: Crafts a Sharpening Wheel.
The September 13 recap describes the wheel as Attack Power. The historical tooltip image below instead says Strength; this remains a source conflict.
- Tailoring: Crafts a Faction Banner that increases Spirit.
- Herbalism: Crafts an Incense Candle that increases Intellect.
- Alchemy: Can learn to place an Alchemy Lab.
- Leatherworking: Places a Tanning Rack that advanced leathercrafting recipes require.
Blizzard said these profession campsite buffs are variants of standard class buffs and do not stack with buffs normally provided by specific classes. The recap does not name which class buffs each object mirrors.
In practice, a group missing a class could cover that stat through a trade skill, while a group that already has the class buff gains nothing extra.
Distinguishing Official Facts From Secondary Reports
Blizzard's official text has since replaced or clarified the impressions secondary outlets published after the initial BlizzCon reveals:
| Outlet | Report |
|---|---|
| Output Lag | Reported early comments from Associate Production Director Clay Stone describing campfires as craftable almost anywhere outdoors. |
| Massively Overpowered | Reported that Camping provides portable crafting stations on the go. |
Blizzard's official panel recap confirms these functions and adds the exact framework: three-object limits, 1-hour cooldowns, skill-20 entry thresholds, dungeon Blueprint sources, and the class-buff non-stacking rule.
Open Details and Beta Status
Campfires are in the beta. Blizzard's beta notes post 4, created October 1 and last edited October 2 UTC add two damage safeguards; the cited September 13 recap and October 1 notes do not give repair prices, complete placement rules or faction-interaction rules:
| Open detail | What is known |
|---|---|
| Repair costs and currency | The cited September 13 recap and October 1 notes do not specify repair currency or prices. |
| Campfire placement terrain restrictions | The cited September 13 recap and October 1 notes do not give complete collision, indoor or hostile-territory rules. |
| PvP ruleset interaction | The cited September 13 recap and October 1 notes do not establish enemy-faction use, attacks or extinguishing; the damage safeguards do not answer these questions. |
| Beta status | Campfires are in the beta. Blizzard's September 24 beta development notes fix Campfire buff bugs, including buffs while sitting, lying down, or kneeling. |
What Wowhead's Beta Text Adds Beyond Blizzard's Examples
Wowhead's Camping guide, built from beta client text, lists camp items for all 12 tradeskills, three tiers each. Its Cooking tab matches Blizzard's 3, 5 and 10 object campfires. Everything in this section is reported beta data, not a Blizzard statement.Source: Camping Overview in WoW Forever, checked Sep 28, 2026.
How You Unlock Camping
You unlock camping around level 5 with a quest called The Great Outdoors, which asks you to /sit at the campfire in front of the quest giver. It then sends you to train Cooking; the Cooking Trainer sells the Simple Wood and Flint and Tinder for your first Basic Campfire.
You also receive a starter quest for each profession you have trained, which teaches that profession's tier 1 camp item.
After that, a "Campfire Nearby" buff flags camps close by. Sit at one for a minute to collect its buffs; you do not need to group with whoever built it.Source: Wowhead: What Camping Buffs Can You Get in WoW Forever?, checked Sep 28, 2026.

Campfire Sizes by Cooking Skill
Higher Cooking skill lets you build bigger campfires that hold more features.
- Basic Campfire, Cooking 1: 3 extra features.
- Journeyman Campfire, Cooking 90: 5 features, made from Star Wood.
- Expert Campfire, Cooking 200: 10 features, made from Thick Logs.
- Iron Oven, Cooking 300: needed for top cooking recipes.
Each campfire has a 5 minute cooldown, and its tooltip says players sitting or crafting nearby for 1 minute gain the other features' benefits. Cooks also get Cookie's Feast at 140, a spread of Stamina food. The Cooking guide covers the rest of the recipe list.
Six More Professions With Camp Items
Six more professions get camp items in Wowhead's table. Blizzard's examples covered Blacksmithing, Tailoring, Herbalism, Alchemy, Leatherworking and Cooking. Wowhead's table adds six:
- Mining: Lodestone, melee Attack Power.
- Skinning: Camp Chair, 2% critical strike.
- Fishing: Fish Bowl, 8% increased stats.
- Enchanting: Enchanted Lute, armor, stats and resistances.
- Engineering: Reagent Bot, then Repair Bot.
- First Aid: First Aid Kit, a Stamina buff.
Tiers 2 and 3 Add a Job
Higher tiers keep the tier 1 buff, add a function, and can be placed over the tier 1 item to replace it. Several are crafting stations: the Anvil and Master Forge, Arcane Forge, Alchemy Laboratory, Loom and Sewing Machine.
Others produce: a Rock Garden spawns a mining node, a Greenhouse grows herbs from seeds, a Fishing Rack unlocks uncommon fish for an hour, and Skinning's Field Guide grants Track Beasts. First Aid's tier 2 and 3 effects are still undescribed.
Engineering's Repair Bot is the only item in Wowhead's table that repairs gear. Blizzard promises campfire repairs without naming the source, so whether a camp needs an engineer for repairs is still open.
Which Class Buff Each Item Replaces
Blizzard said camp stat buffs do not stack with class buffs but did not name the pairs. Wowhead's tooltips identify pairs, and this site's September 28 extraction from beta build 1.60.1.70009 supplied several level 60 values. This is historical data, not a current-client check.
| Camp item | Historical level 60 extraction, build 1.60.1.70009 | Mutually exclusive with |
|---|---|---|
| Mana Well | 29 mana per 5 sec | Blessing of Wisdom |
| Enchanted Lute | 308 Armor, 13 all stats, 22 all resistances | Mark of the Wild |
| Fish Bowl | 8% increased stats | Blessing of Kings |
| Camp Chair | 2% critical strike chance | Moonkin Aura |
| Faction Banner | 32 Spirit | Divine Spirit |
| Sharpening Wheel | Not in checked client tables | Strength of Earth Totem |
| Incense Candle | Not in checked client tables | Arcane Intellect |
| Lodestone | Not in checked client tables | Blessing of Might |
The Faction Banner comes in separate Horde and Alliance versions. The historical source conflict stays visible: Wowhead lists the Sharpening Wheel as "Increased Strength," while Blizzard's Deep Dive recap calls it an Attack Power buff. The September 28 table is an older extraction, not a current beta tooltip check. 'Not in checked client tables' describes that extraction only.
It does not mean the values are absent from newer client builds. These level 60 values do not establish effects at the level 30 cap described in Blizzard's October 1 notes.Source: Blizzard's October 1 beta notes, post 4, last edited October 2 UTC; checked October 18, 2026. Earlier versions are unavailable.

Camp Tent, Legacy Perks and Cooldowns
A Camp Tent can top up your rested experience, and three Legacy perks in Wowhead's guide make tier 1 features free to craft, cut the add cooldown and stretch camp resting benefits. Leatherworking's Camp Tent raises rested experience to 5% of a level for players sitting nearby, with no effect if you already have more.
That fits Blizzard's pitch of the campfire as a field inn; the leveling guide covers how rested experience affects pace.

Three Legacy perks touch camps. Reagent Economy makes tier 1 camp features free to craft. Field Guide (3 ranks) cuts your cooldown on adding camp features by 8%. Permanence (2 ranks) makes resting benefits from a camp last 50% longer.Source: Camping Overview in WoW Forever, checked Sep 28, 2026.
All placed features share a 1 hour cooldown, which the client confirms (spell 1308027). Each craft makes two copies, and each is used up when placed. Camp items can be traded, but placing one needs the profession skill; anyone nearby gets the benefit.
October 1 Source Note
The October 1 beta post was last edited October 2 UTC; earlier versions are unavailable. The date does not establish when each change first appeared.Source: Blizzard's October 1 beta notes, post 4, last edited October 2 UTC; checked October 18, 2026. Earlier versions are unavailable.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the new Campfire feature do in WoW Forever?
Blizzard's September 13 announcements confirm that campfires let you unwind, gain rested status, repair gear, access vendors and profession workspaces, and share 1-hour stat buffs in the outdoor world.
What damage safeguards do Blizzard's beta notes list for campfires?
Blizzard's beta notes post 4, created October 1 and last edited October 2 UTC say campfires no longer deal damage to players below level 5 and deal reduced damage to players with less than 90% health. They do not establish whether enemy faction players can attack, extinguish, or benefit from an opponent's campfire.
How do player professions contribute to a campfire?
A Basic Campfire allows up to three special crafted objects to be placed by nearby players (one per player, with a 1-hour cooldown). Each profession adds something different, such as Blacksmithing Sharpening Wheels (called Attack Power in the September 13 recap; see the Strength tooltip conflict above), Tailoring Faction Banners (Spirit), and Herbalism Incense Candles (Intellect).
Do campfire stat buffs stack with class buffs?
No. Blizzard confirmed that campfire stat buffs are variants of standard class buffs and do not stack with abilities provided by specific classes.
How do you learn campfire recipes?
The first campsite objects are learned at profession skill level 20 from trainers or camping introduction NPCs. More advanced objects are learned from Blueprint recipes that drop from specific dungeon bosses. Our campsite objects by profession reference tracks the tradeskill side.
Can Cooking make bigger campfires?
Yes. Cooks can learn upgraded Campfire recipes that let you place five or ten objects at a single campsite.
Are campfires in the WoW Forever beta?
Yes. Blizzard's September 24 beta development notes list Campfire buff fixes, so campfires are live in beta testing. For verified testing rules, see our WoW Forever beta reference.
